I am having trouble with my computer restarting on its own. I have ran some system diagnostics and spyware and virus scans and nothing is showing up on any of them. All of my software is up to date too. I have even tried a system restore and still can not find the problem. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Go to the Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Logger. Check the event logger for any unusual events around the time the PC restarts, this may point to the problem. You can get more info about events at http://www.eventid.net Usually those problems are caused by faulty hardware or bad drivers.

could be a number of things windows has a fail safe if it detects a problem it restarts the computer, could be a fan not cooling proper, bad power supply, bad stick of ram, mobo might even be bad. i would try to narrow it down by unplugging everything from the power suppy except the hard drive and mobo and if that solves the problem the power supply is probility bad, if that doesnt solve it still could be power supply but i would elimate the rest of the stuff one, by one by trying other things, like trying one stick of ram. pull out any modem and nic in a pci slot. and reinstall them one by one might even be time to upgrade the power supply that is about the cheapest upgrade you can do.

Another thing to check is the CPU fan. If the CPU fan is having problems, the CPU could be overheating, which will make your system spontaneously reboot on its own.

Virus infections and spyware? You must be using Microsoft Windows then. In this case, disable the automatic reboots and analyse the crash dumps.

You could have whats called a dropper on your computer, if i was you i would do a online scan first with bitdefender, then run scandisk.

it might be a batch program that shuts down your computer and is in ur startup folder.
click start>all programs>startup and delete anything you dont want.
if its not there,
start>run.
type msconfig.
go into the startup programs menu and remove all u dont want.
dont forget to leave ur firewall and anti-spyware..
this is for windows.

have you cleaned out your registery, try downloading www.ccleaner.com install, and run, it will clean out your computer from all the junk.
