As a victim of sexual abuse as a child, I can honestly say that I don't think my abuser being put to death would have helped me in any way.
A lot of children feel guilty over the abuse - they feel that they are to blame. I'm a grown woman now, but I still cannot shake the feeling that I 'asked' for it. If the man who abused me was put to death, I'd feel like I 'killed' him, even though logically, I know that it was HIS fault and it was only HIM who was to blame. These are the strange sorts of emotions and thoughts that we have to live with after something like abuse, and I think that by adding a lot of guilt to this pile, it wouldn't be a good step.

i dont think anything should be thought about child molesters, they dont deserve to be thought of,thinking of and discussing them makes them feel important and categorised into some some sort of special group.......its simple they should be put to death,by hanging after being being dealt a punishment by the victim or by the family of,then there should be a law stating that the paedophiles/rapists etc should never be discussed again! therefore eliminating the special status they have gained, surely some of the gory details we are faced with in the tabloids is giving not only status to paedo's but also ideas to those who have not yet acted out any sick fantasies!
we concentrate too much on the bad,and not enough on the good! rid the world of such evil, and show that we are no longer standing for it...it will never happen though, this country is too soft!...i wish i was in power.the world would be a much better place!

Good question...... My daughter is 3 yrs old and is the light of my life (and her daddy's) I've often thought what I'd do if this ever happened to my Lil girl, not because I'm sick just because when you're surrounded by it in the media then you can't help but put yourself in that situation. Well the answer is I'd hunt them down. I'd physically scar them for life and make them pay for what they did for the rest of their miserable lives. They would never be able to forget what they had done and would beg to be killed for some kind of release to the hell i'd put them thru.
It scares the life out of me that everyone I meet is a potential harm to my child. I've even had to drum it into my partner that you need to be on your guard even with people you think you know.
This may seem a little neurotic but it's a sad fact. The only person I trust with my daughter is me.

there should be funded medical research
to try and ascertain why it is these
types are the way they are
is a genetic flaw in their makeup
part of the cause
or a psychological defect
from birth
or is it their personal choice
and nothing more?
i think a lot of questions
and research into this horror
has to be done
imprisonment has not worked
dealth penalties are just shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, everyone but the victim are happy with that sentence .if medical intervention can go some way
in stopping this disease then it should
be used and no holds barred either.

As soon as there is indisputable evidence, they should be castrated & made into eunuchs so their sex drive diminshes. They should be sent to a special school where they are made to listen to what victims suffer for the rest of their lives.
They should then be placed in an institution, & held for a minimum of 20 years, where they have to work to earn their keep, before there is any possible chance of rehabilitation into the community.
& then they should have a bold, bright branded-on tattoo (that cannot be removed) put on their forehead that everyone knows & recognises.
The trouble with the death sentence is they are such low-lifes, they might regard the prospect of death pleasurably, & they will not be re-educated...

Child molestars definitely have a problem. They are a danger to themselves and just about anyone around them.
Punishment should be meted out to such offenders as no child deserves to live in fear, let alone grow up traumatised by past abuse.

I do think some child molesters should be put to death, while others shouldn't. If we just dropped and shot everyone accused of it we could be killing some innocent people while the real molesters continue on their crime spree. If its proven that one is a child molester... they should endure the pain and suffering in a jail system, where they too will become a victim that can never escape.

I think they should be given to the Army, so that we can have live moving target practise, we could also test our interrogation techniques on them. Or we could reintroduce the death penalty, and that would be the only conviction. No jail sentence just put to death, in fact lets starve them for a few days, and we could let kids throw rocks at them and stuff, then hang the basta!ds. Or we could break every bone in their bodies and poke them with sticks. Oh what about a public stoning that would be fun. I'm leaving this subject I'm getting wound up.

I think they should be punished for their crime. But what punishment is harsh enough for a person that has scared another possibly for the rest of their life (depending on the severity of the molestation). I believe in "an eye for an eye" but our society doesn't believe in cruelty.
Unfortunately even criminals have certain rights and some of those rights should be stripped away. Our own court system actually allows testimony like mental disturbance from their own molestation and child abuse to impact the courts decision on the punishment. There is no excuse for harming an innocent person.
Many would agree that they would like the person who hurt their friends or family to stop living. In my opinion, one form of an end to ones life is to strip away everything one depends on for ones personal gratification. Good tasting food, shelter, human contact, reading, radio, etc.

I think they deserve a life of mental torture because that's exactly what they end up doing to their victims. Physical wounds can heal but the mental aspect of it never goes away. My best friend in middle and HS was molested when she was 5/6 by a neighbor and you wouldn't know it looking at her but it still affects her in some way today. And my closest friend has an 8 year old daughter who was molested a little over a year ago by the husband's very good friend and they are actually in court today going through the trial for the second time. The thought of these type of people SICKENS me to no end. There is a special place in the pit of HELL for these monsters!

Aegaea The cool voice of reason. If your account is correct(and I think it is)you sound like a lovely person. The sick people who perpetrate these attacks are in need of treatment, of that there can be no doubt. When male human sexual urge rears its ugly head who knows what follows. Lack of control is lamentable in these cases and individuals found guilty of such disgusting behaviour should be segregated from society. I see that to date you have had 115 replies, I read only a fraction and gave up in despair at the majority who advocate all sorts of physical abuse to the miscreants. Let them lower themselves to the level of the offender if they wish. Would they want to have on their conscience the demise or even torture of the monster responsible. Just look at the recent pictures of Ian Brady(the surviving moors murderer)he, we are told wishes to die but the authorities are doing their utmost to deny him that privilege. That is surely torture within the bounds of human conscience. I think I have pontificated enough, and I hope I have not offended too many people with this response.
