The first thing you need to know is it's DACHSHUND. After that what would you like to know? Check out the AKC or CKC (Canadian) websites for info on breed standards. There are many rescue sites that offer good information as well.

They are feisty little dogs. They have no idea how little they are and think they can do anything. They are VERY stubborn, loyal, devoted, intelligent, cuddly and lovable! They are also very smart but because of the stubbornness sometimes a little hard to train (especially house train). They would never defy you on purpose, they just truly believe that the rules only apply to them sometimes! As a Dachshund owner you need to thoroughly establish your alpha status early and maintain that. You need to be firm and consistent always or before you know it your little Dachshund will be ruling the house!

Wild and Free....... What exactly do you think the Canadian Kennel Club is called then if not the CKC? Hence the brackets to indicate I am referring to the Canadian Kennel Club and NOT Continental sham registry so as not to confuse the simple minded

Bianca needs to know the CKC is not Canadian Kennel Club - it is CONTINENTAL Kennel Club.

Mini dachshnds are sweet, loving, affectoinate and loyal. They sometimes are hard to litter train, but if you are patient, it works. They come in an assortment of colors and love sleeping under blankets and especially in your bed! I raise them - want one? Got one black and tan male left - registered CKC - that's Continental Kennel Club, not Canadian.
