The key to becoming a cook is to buy yourself a basic cook
book, make a list of the ingredients for the recipe you wish to make, and follow the instructions to the letter. Always start with recipes that have 10 ingredients or less and practice, practice, practice. Just prepare one dish at a time and after you have prepared and know how to make all the dishes to a meal, put them all together. Cooking is fun, it is relaxing and most of all it is the most loving thing you can do for a person.

Here is a start with these URLs. The first one has all the info on what is meant when you read something in a recipe.
First rule of thumb is to keep in mind that it is not as hard as you think and also try to have fun when cooking. Bon Appetit !

Depending on what ur looking to cook. I have a recipe for chicken casserole and it is really easy.
boneless chicken breast. 2 cans of cream of chicken or mushroom soup. and 2 boxes of stuffing. Cube the chicken (doesn't have to be evenly chopped.) pour soup over chicken Mix up stuffing and spread on top of chicken and soup mixture. Bake at 350 for like 30-45 minutes or until chicken is all white and completely cooked. Tastes good, easy and rather inexpensive.

Buy the Betty Crocker cookbook (ie the "red book"). It covers almost everything you need to know. From how to cut meat, how to substitute, to how to boil eggs. The neat thing, they actually tried to make (before allowing them in the book) all the recipies and provide helpful hints. Best thing I ever did.

Note they have many editions & types of Betty Crocker Cookbooks. I recommend the 500+ page, ring bound one because it lays flat while you are cooking.

Good luck.
