I believe that they should be sent home.....you do it one time and they go home from Daytona with no points....Yes Jimmie did it last year and what did it cost him.....no crew chief for 3 races and 50,000 he still won a championship some may think the gamble paid off.....

If NASCAR ever exspects to curtail cheating, the drivers need to be sent home along with the crew cheifs AND ALSO THE OWNERS. All drivers know what was done to their cars, Period, Period, Period. I'll never beleive anything other than that. Jimmy Johnson should not have beed allowed to drive in the 500 last year even though I like him. If you break the rules in any other sport, they toss you out of the game. Toss em out.

Johnson did the same thing last year and didn't have to sit out. Why doesn't anyone give better specifics as to what exactly the so call "cheating" was. Below is what NASCAR put out but they never really say what was done that was so bad. Why can't they give better descriptions of what was actually bad?

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Qualifying times for Matt Kenseth and Kasey Kahne were disallowed following Sunday's Bud Pole Qualifying at Daytona International Speedway after the two cars were found to have "unapproved aerodynamic devices."
NASCAR vice president of corporate communications Jim Hunter said the No. 17 Ford and No. 9 Dodge would be placed at the back of Thursday's second Gatorade Duel. In addition, Hunter said NASCAR will consider the possibility of future fines, suspensions and penalties against the two teams for the rulebook violation.
Hunter said both cars had "holes in places were they would normally be sealed and these were not." Kenseth's was reportedly in a wheel well. Hunter did not specify the location of the holes in Kahne's car.
Last year, Jimmie Johnson and Terry Labonte had their qualifying runs thrown out after failing inspection.
"Our inspection process is getting better every year," Hunter said. "We are committed to trying to stop all games being played."

Not at all. Everyone's looking for that competitive edge and apparently somebody on their teams did so to their cars. It would be very hard to prove that they had any knowledge of the alterations to their wheel wells. This is a "the buck stops here" kind of deal that goes back to the crew chiefs. I'm sure Robbie Reiser and Kenny Francis will get to sit for a few weeks plus there may be a monetary fine as well. Let the drivers drive and whoever is responsible for the cheating pay the consequences of their actions. THIS JUST IN: ALL OF THE EVERHAM CARS WERE FOUND TO BE CHEATING! KAHNE PENALIZED 50 PTS, RIGGS 25 AND SADLER 25. KENSETH PENALIZED 50 PTS AS WELL. Sadler and Riggs' cars were found to have the same wheel well deal as Kahne's going on but theirs were found BEFORE qualifying. Their, Sadler's and Riggs', crew chiefs are being fined $25,000 each and 2 race vacation. Francis and Reiser each got $50,000 fine and 4 race suspensions. Evernham and Roush are losing owner's points as well. Wow, now we will see what Mikey gets nailed with! YEEHAWW, starting off the year with a bang!

matt kenseth is doing more beneficial advantageous this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days yet kasey kahne hasnt been in the game for that lengthy so as that signifies that kasey kahne will more beneficial than in all probability evolve right into a more beneficial advantageous nascar driver then kenseth

I dont understand why everyone is talking about this as every team and driver cheats, yes its big news and everything but NASCAR made a ruling after talking to everyone involved, and they made the decision as the same thing that happened last year with Johnson, its not cheating until you get caught, and no one can deny that the teams arent looking for that competive edge and will find something else to cheat on and when they get caught they will stop that and do something else its an endless cycle as everyone wants to be the best. I hate Kenseth so I really dont care what happens to him but Kahne is a really talented driver and the drivers probably dont know whats going on with their cars until they drive it, and if they would have gotten the poles or something NASCAR would of scratched that and fined them as well and their going to deal wiht the consequences and move on and race hard. Their will always be something to talk about but cheating comes wiht any sport in any league and country.

No way, I don't think the drivers are aware of what the crews are doing to the cars. I heard that the holes in Kasey's car were noticed by the Nascar officials pre inspection and the crew was told to put duct tape on them. Of course after qualifying some of the tape had come off. That seems very unfair! These two drivers are the sweetest in Nascar~I've met Kasey 6 times and have also met Matty. They would NEVER condone cheating!

Well Shotgun really doesnt like Kasey huh? Suck it up my guy..ur just jelious it sounds like to me..ne who I dont think they should get sent home at all.Matt and Kasey and Riggs and everyone that got "caught" should be as they got punished...believe me it is enough without a crew chief and docked points and teams points..its bad enough. We dont wanna make it even worse.I think alot of ppl in Nascar cheated all the time before,ALL OF THEM.Even the Champ Jimmys team did.It doesnt make u a bad person..just a bad source of Judgement on their teams,NOT the driver.

No they should not be suspended the crew cheifs were the cheaters so the crew cheifs should be the ones. If the drivers ended up being suspended I would probly not watch the races. On Kaseys car they officle said to tape up the holes and the officle did not tell Nascar. So it is also the officle's falt.
``NASCAR saw the holes in inspection and told my guys to tape them up. They were taped, but the tape came off,'' Evernham said. ``I don't know why they made such a big deal about it. It was not an aerodynamic device or something that was built to fool them.''

Still, Evernham expects crew chief Kenny Francis to get hit with a suspension when NASCAR hands out its penalties.

No. Matt Kenseth could be leading fairly well in the race if Robbie Reiser wasn't there. Seeing as Matt and Robbie raced together here in WI. Kasey is still young though. He'll have time to win.

No.... i dont think so because jimmie johnson didnt get sent home when he cheated at daytona last year (he just lost his crew chief for 4 races) but there should be some sort of punishment, similar to jimmie johnsons or something like that, for their cheating.
