i dont believe. but i think people believe because they need somthing to hold on to. they need to believe that when there loved ones die they will see them again. but as the great mark twain said "faith is believing in somthing you no isnt true." If people dont stop believeing soon the whle world will end. religion is responsible for so much bad and people dont realize it. the crusades, the holacost, september 11th. why cant we be nice and not have to believe in higher power?

Your question sounds of someone who is unsure what to believe. There are so many conflicting stories and beliefs out there. How can anyone really tell for sure which is correct?
I think your real question is a lot deeper even then the one you put forth here. How do we know that God exists? How do we know that He even cares?
From a Christian perspective, the Bible gives us some very good insights about how faith is gained and how you nourish your budding faith so that it grows.
Paul told us that faith is the substance of things that are not seen but that are true. So, that is the starting point. We start with the premise that God is true but we cannot see Him. So, what's the next step?
Jesus compared faith (the Kingdom of Heaven) to a mustard seed. A mustard seed is among the smallest seeds. But when it is grown grows into an herb used in many ways and becomes a rather large plant in comparison to the seed it started as.
Faith works the same way. It starts out small but can grow to become something very powerful and unshakable.
So how we get our seed of faith to grow. Like any seed it needs to be planted in good soil. It needs nourishment like water and sun and perhaps fertilizer. What kinds of things nourish the seed of faith?
1. You need good soil. A heart that desires to know the truth.
2. You need nourishment. Jesus said that he is the bread of life and a spring of water that whosoever would drink would never thirst. Where do you get that nourishment? The Holy Scriptures.
3. You need sunlight. The sun shines down upon us as from Heaven. God will send His Spirit to us as rays of sunshine if we but seek. We do this through prayer.
James taught us the if any of us lack wisdom, we should ask God who gives to all men liberally.
Jesus taught, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."
Go to you Heavenly Father in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ and if you are sincere in your prayer, God is bound by His own word to answer you.
You will know that He exists and He will lead you in the paths that you should take in life.
God be with you in your quest.

You say that there have been creation stories throughout the history of man ... if that's true, then doesn't it make it more likely that it IS true, if everyone has basically the same story, throughout history?
How do we know who did it? God said He did, and everything else He's told me has been absolutely true. I have spent my entire life following His Word, and everytime I use it, it works. Every time I need to know Truth with a capital T, I go to the Word and there it is. Since everything else He said is true, I'll believe that He created the world in 6 days.

The main point I think you're missing is faith. No, I can't make you believe in the same Creator I believe in because I have no proof to show to you, but what many Creationists base their beliefs on is not something you can touch or analyze, but the faith that comes from having a relationship with God. I know that probably sounds really whack-o, but that's the essential piece of the puzzle. Everything takes faith to believe in, some more than others. For example, you probably have faith that you'll wake up tomorrow and still be alive. But you can't prove to me that you'll be alive tomorrow, and you can't even prove that to yourself necessarily. But based on past experiences (you've waken up and been alive a lot in your life) you have faith that tomorrow will be another day.

Here's an illustration, when you see a house you know that it didn't put itself there right? so how do you think it got there, not by itself of course, someone had to build it, it's the same with humans and the rest of everything whether it's the heaven's or the earth the mountain's the water's deep everythiing. (Jehovah God) has created it including ( Jesus Christ) who the world think's is the true (God) and ( Satan the Devil). Jesus say's in
(1stCorinthinas 8:5,6) For even though there are those who are called "gods" whether in the heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords", there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him, and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him.
Jesus also said in
(Proverbs 8:22,23) Jehovah himself produce me as the begining of his way, the earliest of his achievements of long ago. From time indefinite I was installed, from the start, from times earlier than the earth.
As humans we were not created by evolution but by Jehovah God, you may not see him but he exist.
(Psalms 148:5) Let them praise the name of Jehovah; For he himself commanded, and they were created.
(Isaiah 45:18) For this is what Jehovah has said, the creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who Formed it even to be inhabited; I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.
(Isaiah 66;1,2) This is what Jehovah has said: "The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where, then, is the house that you people can build for me, and where, then, is the place as a resting-place for me?
When you breathe you can feel the air but you can't see it, when you walk outside you can feel the breeze but you can't see it, but you believe it exist. Then so is Jehovah and he created us.

Looking at all the creation stories it truly seems that the christian creation story is the most logical and stresses actions not unrealistic beings like a giant turtle or coming out of a gods head...
We do not pretend to know.... we accept God at His word the scripture is the foundation which we build all things upon.
The wisdom is knowing what is trying to be said and then applying it correctly to your life.

As a very limited human being, I find a need for something that I can "take to the bank" so to speak. Scripture presents itself as such a reliable source of information. I find it very adequate in the critical ways. I could not have fabricated the story, and I doubt that any man or group of men could have done so. Could scripture be the fabrication of an evil angel? They might have the wisdom, but since Scripture exhorts us to a righteous life, and offers us great things through the grace of the Savior YAHOSHUA, it is beyond my imagining to suppose that it is other than what it says it is, the word of YHVH. The fact that very few people are following it is actually in its favor, as He said, "as it was in the days of Noah so will it be in the day of the coming of the son of man."

I'm a creationist of sorts, and I think that multiple creation stories scattered though different ancient cultures is really neat, actually. The same goes for tales of dragons, floods, and heroes. I think it's a neat testimony to God, that all people have stories about His hand in the world.

It is the power of God. As I have answered these types of questions several times--God reveals Himself to those who seek Him-
He makes known His existence, by creation as Romans 1:20 says but even after this, when someone believes, the Holy Spirit reveals the truth to them, more and more....it is the power of God.
God is the one who changes us- God is the one who shows us Himself, through His creation and through His word. Makes MUCH sense too!
Proverbs 8:17
I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
Jeremiah 29:13
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Acts 17:27
God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
