That's true to a degree. If you only eat small portions of junk....you'll still be trying to lose weight....or just get sick.

Try upping your intake of fruits and veggies. Read what a portion is on the packaging....that in itself will help. Avoid sugars and salt..salt hold three times it's weight in water!

Nothing will ever "ruin" your diet. When you eat more than you think you should have, just cut down and eat healthier the next time. You can eat any thing in moderation, because the only thing that matters is calorie intake. Obviously, the less you eat, the fewer calories you are getting. But things like vegetables and lean meats are more desirable than fried foods because they have less cholesterol and fat, and fewer calories. So you may want to look for healthier options and leave the less healthy ones for days you are really craving.

Well, those aren't the healthiest choices, but they won't "ruin" your diet. With diets like Weight Watchers, you can basically eat whatever you want within reason, bearing in mind that healthy is usually the better way to go.

In response to Mandy below, yes, on Weight Watchers, you can eat "just anything." I'm on Weight Watchers point system, where you are allotted a certain number of points a day. If you want to blow 13 points, for example, on a Dairy Queen blizzard, you are perfectly entitled to do that, but I wouldn't recommend doing it all the time because it blows a good portion of your points (for example, I eat a minimum of 20 points daily, with 35 "flex" points to be used anytime throughout the week).

That definitly won't ruin your diet. Just don't let that be a regular habit:)
If you are going to eat high calorie/higher fat foods, pair it up with something low cal/low fat like a salad or veggies. That way you feel more full, and are less likely to visit the fridge or food court again soon!
If you are concerned about a bad meal, just step up your exercise a little. Go for a walk around the block.

You can do it! Just keep going, don't give up!

When on a diet, eating small portions is key, but you cannot eat 'just anything'. They show chocolate cake, pizza, etc. on those diet commercials, but even those foods are calorie reduced and healthier than normal junk foods like these.

I don't imagine that it can help. You only ate a small amount so you will feel hungry again soon and just eat more. Try to eat normal amounts of healthy foods frequently and your metabolism will speed up while eating fewer calories.

yes its true, but portion control is the key and that might hinder you efforts a little but the best thing is to get back on track the very next Meal.

Focus on maintaining a caloric deficit. If you calories are below your maintenance level you will lose weight no matter what you eat. But eating healthily is better.
