Yes. First of all, there is lots of golf and tennis, at resorts which also have fun pools, etc. There are great shops and restaurants. There is the tram and wondeful hiking trails. You can take tours of old star's homes. There is an awesome air museum, an art museum, and the Living Desert museum.

I have been there a few times. It's a laid back town. Golf is BIG there. I stayed at the Marriott in Palm Desert. It is REALLY nice!!! A bit expensive but very nice- They take you on a gondola ride to the restaurants on the hotel grounds. If you enjoy visiting spas they have a first class one as well. If you don't want to stay there you can still visit the property. I took my mom there a couple years ago for her 50th birthday- she really enjoyed it. I also honeymooned at the Marriott in Rancho Mirage (due to lack of time off because of relocating and a new job) for a couple of days. It was nice but the one in Palm Desert is the one to go to, if you can swing it.
You can't forget to go on the aerial tram up the mountain- this time of year it should have snow up at the top of the mountain and you can go cross country skiing up there. I've done that twice (not the skiing but just the tram). The views are breathtaking! There is a "rustic" type restaurant up there that's fun to go to, as I remember. It's been 10 years since I've been there but I'm actually planning a trip out there soon with the kids.
It is a nice getaway. We don't golf but we enjoy the atmosphere.
Downtown Palm Springs there are boutique shops to browse and good restaurants and snack places.
I don't remember everything to do for kids because I haven't been there entertaining children, but I know they have a water park and other cool things you could go to.

Yes but try to get there before Summer. Its oppressive in the Summer. Temps get to be in the teens and thats hot. The Tram is way cool and there plenty to see nearby like Joshua Tree National Park. Great Restaurants and places of interest to visit. I'd go back to Palm Springs again.
