cake recipes for dogs?

Question

I have a boxer and he is turning 1 on friday. don't ask why but my wife wants to bake a cake for him. does anybody know where to find cake recipes for dogs?

dont know if your english but they used to make birthday cake for dogs on blue peter.lots of recipes on the site below try google for more.i love boxers they are mad arent they always a puppy jumping everywhere and getting into mischief!sweet!
Bacon Chicken Layer Cake

This recipe makes a real layer cake! Chicken, bacon and yogurt provide aromas that drive dogs crazy for this cake.

3 cups flour

1 T. baking powder

1/2 cup margarine, softened

6 eggs, beaten

1/2 cup corn oil

2 jars strained chicken baby food

2 cups finely shredded carrots

plain or vanilla yogurt

2 or 3 strips of bacon, fried crisp, then crumbled, or use bacon-flavored jerky strips, cut into bits.

Generously grease and flour two 8" round cake pans; set aside. Combine flour and baking powder; set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat softened margarine until smooth. Add eggs and corn oil; mix well. Add strained chicken, and shredded carrots and mix until smooth. Add flour mixture and mix thoroughly. Pour batter into the 2 prepared 8" cake pans. Bake at 325° for 60 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before removing from pans. Cool completely on wire racks.

Place one layer on a serving plate and spread yogurt over top. Place second layer on top, then spread yogurt on top and sides of entire cake. Sprinkle crumbled bacon or bits of jerky strips over top. Use "Pupperoni" sticks for candles.

Peanut Butter Cake with Carob Ganache
An impressive looking cake that's easy to make! Cake
1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup rice milk
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
Ganache
3/4 cup carob chips
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

In a large bowl, mix flour and baking powder.
In a large measuring cup, combine the other cake ingredients and allow to sit for three minutes.
Pour the wet ingredients into the flour mixture and stir just until completely blended.
Pour batter into a well greased round cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Cool completely before turning out onto a cake platter. Regular plates will cause the cake to be indented in the middle due to their concavity.
When the cake is cool, place carob chips and shortening into a small saucepan.
Stir over low heat until both are melted and the mixture is smooth.
Pour onto the center of the cake.
With a rubber scraping spatula, smear the ganache evenly over the top in a thin layer, allowing some of the mixture to drip over the edges decoratively.
When ganache is completely cool, it will form a firm glaze.
Tip: Flax seeds can easily be ground in a home coffee mill.

There are some good recipes posted. I substitute rice flour for the wheat flour though as many dogs are allergic to the wheat.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I'm glad you asked this question. One of my dogs has a b-day coming up and I want to bake her a cake, too! Sorry, I don't have a recipe for you.
