I remember where I heard it. I was watching the last few laps of the 2006 Crown Royal 400 race (Junior won) and D.W said that If it wasn't for Junior, Hamlin probably wouldn't have the ride. So, that's why I asked. I wanted to know if anyone knew the reason D.W said that.

I think he owes it part to Dale Jr.
Junior really got him started and with a good team, but it's not like junebug wins the races for him.

No, here's the story of how he got into NASCAR
One time he was shaking down a Late Model car on the track to prepare it for some event, and then he caught the eye of someone working for Joe Gibbs Racing. The guy called his boss and told him to hire Hamlin before anyone else does.
and voila, he's racing the #11 FedEx Chevy for JGR.

denny started his career racing at langley speedway in hampton, va. he won the track championship there driving late models. i know this because i live 4 miles from the track and work on cars out there. after he won the championship, he was still racing at langley and running out of money. another car owner put him in his car so he could keep racing. MEANWHILE, joe gibbs was having a driver tryout down in carolina and needed someone to help set up the cars before the drivers were there to help speed up the process. (sorta like roushs gong show) denny went down there to shake the cars down and was running faster the track record. he had never been to the track before. gibbs racing was impressed and invited him back and thats how it started. they werent even looking at denny to start with, he was in the right place at the right time

No- He got to NASCAR on talent alone. Junior did say that he was the best underrated racer. He met him SIM racing online. So no he is talented, Junior just recognized the talent.

He owes his racing career to Denny Hamlin! Jr. likes him, that is Denny's personality. It also fits with Happy Harvik, his team mate!

yes junior told his owner about Denny and the owner told other people. Jr. gave him a tryout at a practice and there u go
