so the people above me have sex and have it often which is fine. But they must have the loudest bed ever because i can be in a dead sleep and wake up and hear them. Not only can I hear the bed but i can hear them making grunts and other noises. I know the need to have sex and do not think there is anything wrong with it but....as a person who works an 8-5 job is there anything I can do when they are doing this at 2 and 3 in the morning .....I am not sure what is rude because I know I have had my times as well but really....is it necessary to yell and what not.....

Just tap on the ceiling w/ a broom, they should get the hint, and I'm sure they will get a kick out of it,so don't worry about them getting mad!!

We used to hear the same thing from our upstairs neighbors.
Luckily, he didn't last long - maybe a minute tops.
Right away after that we would hear her stomp off to the bathroom - it sounded like an elephant up there!
I think my husband got even by farting loudly.
They moved eventually.
I don't think the new neighbors ever have sex, or they are extremely quiet.
Sorry that I don't have a solution - just memories!

I can truly understand when you are sleeping to here the sound of anything waking you up, it really pisses me off. But what you might want to do is get yourself something that is going to allow you to make those sounds and have that same feeling. LOL. There's nothing that you can really do less you buy your own home on 15 acres and set yourself in the middle of it

I know it's difficult - it sounds like you have very thin walls.

But the truth is that they are in their apartment, and they do have the right to have sex when they choose.

I'd suggest either a) getting a white noise machine or b) moving your bed to a different area of your apartment.

You could invite one of them over for coffee or tea and casually mention, "Did you know that sounds from your bedroom transfer really well to my apartment?" If they don't get the point, you can go further with, "I feel very self-conscious mentioning this, but I'm afraid some of your late-night activities wake me up quite frequently. Is there a chance you can keep things down at 3am during the week, since I have to be at work by 8am and need my sleep?" You can later add, "Thanks for understanding my awkwardness in mentioning this, and for working together on a solution."

If the louts refuse to clam up, complain to the landlord and/or the police. "It sounds like someone is being assaulted! Please investigate!"

earplugs, radio on low volume, or if you own the place, have a lowered ceiling or some sort of insulating process done to block the noise. This will also increase the value of your home, and give you a better night's sleep, so it'll be well worth it.

Can you imagine what they are hearing? You need a different place. That is absolutely crazy that you can hear your neighbors normal activities. Have to love cheap new apartments. No insulation at all!

I know exactly how you feel. I have the same problem. I spoke directly to the man and told him," hey, more power to you, but I have to get some sleep. So, why don't we comprimise ?
Have fun anytime between 9:00 a.m. & 10:00 p.m.
So far it has worked. ( actually they were really embaressed)

I would invest in some earplugs. I have been through a similar situation myself, and when it's your turn, you want the same consideration.
