I know the money is the same and it's one of the states so there's no "exchange rate" but I was just wondering if there was any limit to the amount of money you could take onto a plane out of the continental US to Hawaii.

Doesn't the patriot act prohibit over a certain amount from being carried? I think it does but I'm not sure.

The other poster is correct - no one cares how much money you bring to Hawaii - although it seems foolish to bring a large quantity of CASH. Leave it in the bank and withdrawal it from ATMs as you need it.

Now, if you LEAVE the US, and return, you need only DECLARE any amount over $10,000. But you are not leaving the US by traveling to Hawaii.

You can carry as much cash as you want. The money is the same in Hawaii. It is one of the states you know.

Going from US to US will not require any customs. However, I believe that they will question you regardless of your destination if you are carrying a large amount of cash ($10,000 or so). You might run in to less problems since its not international travel but I still wouldn't carry more than several thousand dollars.
