I have a mostly manual 35mm (nokia EM ) I have a friend that thinks I could use the lens from my nokia on a digital rebel. I don't believe so since one is manual and the other is not. Since I only have experience with my 35 and a point and shoot digital I thought I would put a question out there. Thanks

I think you mean a Nikon EM.
Those lenses won’t work on a Canon. Canon and Nikon have different lens mount systems. You could buy an adapter ring to make them fit, but even then they wouldn’t work properly.
In fact, Nikon EM lenses shouldn’t even be used with Nikon’s digital SLR cameras. They’re too old for all of the entry level models (which require auto-focus lenses) and frankly, although they’d work, I wouldn’t consider using them with a high-end body. I had an EM myself and I loved it... but it’s very basic and so were the ´E-lenses´ that Nikon made for it.

Ok here is the lowdown...

Pentax DSRL can use: Pentax-K mount and screw mount lenses (with adapter

Canon DSLR's can use EOS series lenses, NOT FD series

Sony/Minolta can use Maxxum/Alpha lenses, NOT MD/MC series

Nikon DSLR's are a weird bunch - most will work with any AF series (except D40), some (D200/D2xs) will accept manual focus (AI/AI-S) and meter, none will accept non-AI lenses AND meter.

Fuji DSLR's are in same boat as nikons

I second that yes and raise you a maybe. Depends on what DSLR you have and what lens you want to put on it.
