I've also often heard that God helps those who help themselves. I think that holds true more than anything.

Yes, I see your point. Just so you know I am Catholic, I am not a practicing Catholic, and in many ways, I would be viewed as a heretic in the church ( a person whose ideas/beliefs are considered wrong/ or immoral in the eyes of the church). I believe that somethings are an act of God, and other things are done by humankind. Like Hurricane Katrina - Act of God, / Cancer going away - medical treatments and advancements! So, it all depends on the Christians view! I know plenty of people who believe in God but, think that Humans are responsible for many good things like medical advancements and so on.
But then you have the straight-laced, stoic, Christians who will say that God gave each person or human kind the ability to do these things and make those advances.
It's not just Christianity either, in the Islam religion, a Jihad (a holy war) is justified in the Koran because it's helping Allah's (God in Arabic) purpose on earth. Who's going to argue that point?

let's not forget the other human aspects such as their ability to commit murder, steal, lie, cheat, etc. Man has it in his heart to think and do the worst things to each other. I mean if we are giving credit where credit is do then let's make sure we don't leave anything out.
Believing in God doesn't deny a person their human aspects. It doesn't deny their ability to sacrifice their life for another without even giving it a second thought. It doesn't deny their intelligence, nor their ability to use logic and reason. It denies nothing in the ways of the human aspect. Believing in God gives us the courage to willing lay our life down for another even when we are scared to do so. Believing in God gives us insight into things we might not yet know. He surrounds us with people who love us and are willing to help and intervene when we need it the most because we are powerless against drugs, alcohol, etc.
So the only difference between someone who only looks at the human aspect versus someone who looks at the human aspect and the intervention and grace of God is where they give their glory. The first person looks to give themselves all the glory while the second humbles himself and gives the glory to God, the person whom without they would not be able to achieve such things.

Why are you generalizing Christians when so many of us disagree with each other? Sometimes, it does take a little push and some people acknowledge the push as God. MY belief, as a Christian, is that God put us here with free will. He does have control of our lives but mainly chooses not to intervene. I, also, believe that things happen for a reason... we don't always know about the reason. This is only my aspect on God and His will. I suggest to ask others or even read the bible (and there are several versions) about God and His will because everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Your questions is stuffed with huge generalities. enable's settle for it, no unmarried group has a monopoly on being conceited, self-righteous, in-your-face, conceited, illiberal, and so on. i did no longer think of it grew to become into obtainable for atheists to be holier-than-thou, yet particularly a number of them be able to drag it off. For the checklist, i believe in God and love Jesus, and that i comprehend particularly some people who do no longer think of that folk are small, insignificant, untrustworthy, evil and all of those different issues. I also have a perplexing time believing that God is mad, unhappy, offended, vengeful, depressed and all of those different issues that some people curiously want him to be. From what i will tell, God and all that he created, which includes human beings, are good, and we do have unfastened will. which potential we get to make those selections approximately how we develop into conscious of the international and how we live our lives. here is hoping you're having a astounding day!

Because, according to christianity, humans are sinful sheep and don't deserve any 'earthly' glory.
Because, according to christianity, as long as you (supposedly) have a personal relationship with Jesus (whoever that is), everything else is a free-for-all.
Because, according to christianity, your feelings and words are held in a higher regard than your (in)actions.
Because, according to christianity, the future is already known, so it's out of our hands.
Because, according to christianity, this is (a) god's planet, not humans.
Chritians truly only care about one thing: admittance into 'heaven' (wherever that is). They'll tell you all kinds of other 'things' they care about but it always comes down to a personal desire of obtaining 'salvation'. I don't see how anybody can still believe the stuff.

Blah blah blah. A bunch of biased oppinionated crap from yet another unbeliever. Arg. Whatever. Just listen to what all my fellow Christians have said. Stop speaking about what you don't know since you're not a Christian. How can you speak about some thing or a faith you have no idea about? Better to be thought a fool then to speak and make everyone who thinks you're a fool right.

I think you're referring to the fundamentalist christian. I know many christians that believe they are solely responsible for the good and bad that happens to them, with the exception of the idiot drunk driver that kills with his/her car, and then they blame the drunk, not "satan"! Some christians just take too far and make all the others look bad. At least they stick to what you mentioned rather than head-hunting and suicide bombing! Geez! Maybe you should be ragging on the muslims!

Thats a gaping misinterpretation to speak so generally, but you have a valid point. Romans 8:28 says that ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD TO THEM THAT LOVE GOD and are called according to His purpose.
So there for me is no discounting of the human element, but in the end I give Glory to GOD and give appreciation to humans for the grace that they shed on me or on one another all working in accordance with the Lord's devine plan. Humans have free will and can do what they want, but when we choose to be prayerful and seek God's guidance, we believe that whatever happens is ordained by Him. When we are grateful and appreciate things, we give God credit above all because of His great ways.

You are generalizing. Not all Christians think everything is by God's grace or God's fury. In fact, most of them use a combination of prayer and human techniques to achieve goals or overcome hardships.
