Is your dog a Champion? Does he come from CH lines? Has he had his eye, hip and health certifications done? Does he conform to the breed standard and have exceptional traits (Physical and Behavioral) that are worth genetically passing on?

If you can't answer YES to all of those questions, then a breeder isn't going to even look at your dog as a stud (Unless it's a Backyard Breeder that doesn't care about the quality of the pups they produce and are just out to make a buck).

What is the OFA rating on your dogs hips? When was it done?
What titles does your dog hold? Other than just a CH in front of his name? When were they finished?
What hunting titles does your dog hold?

Other than the fact that your dog is a great pet what qualities does he have that would make me want to use him for stud?

Just becasue he is a great pet does not make him good stud material. If he does not hold any timtles or have any judging to prove he is a worthy stud oyu are going to have problems finding a breeder who would use him for stud.

Its not that easy. Is he AKC registered. Is that registration full or limited. Under limited registration you can not show a dog or register any puppies sired by that dog. Check your paperwork first. If your paperwork is full reg. Contact AKC.org breeders classified for active breeders in your area. Also check for breed clubs in your area through the AKC. They can put you in touch with more breeders. Finally check the puppy sale sites next day pets.com and such. This contains more breeders.
Hope this helps.

You can place an ad in the news paper or at pets4you.com there are also many websites that you can place an ad on for free. there is puppypals.com i cant think of any off the top of my head. but those i think are the best places to start mainly because the whole website is dedicated to advertise dogs and breeders.

As an animal rights activist, I am against breeding and puppy mills. Thousands of unwanted animals are put to sleep each year, while people try to profit off of breeding their own "purebreds".

Responsible animal owners have their pets spayed or nuetered. It increases the animal's lifespan, protects them from a lot of animal diseases, and prevents more unwanted pets from being euthanized.
