u should be straight up! a year is more than enough time with your partner to be comfortable bringing up issues like this.
this shouldnt come as a surprise for her in fact shes probably even thought about chipping in on your dates. it should be fine!

Just tell her how you feel. Honesty is always the best policy. Maybe the next time you guys plan a date, you could bring up in a nice way that a relationship should always be 50/50, and sometimes it would be nice if you didn't have to dish out the cash.

I hate to say it, but no matter what you are probably going to come out of it looking negative in some way or another. Im not saying its fair, but if you have been paying for a year, she probably thinks you would have spoken up by now, and bringing it up might make her feel bad. Again, its not fair but she may feel like shes been doing something wrong all this time by not paying.

Quit taking her out so much and when she asks why, Tell her you can't afford it. Then maybe she'll get the idea.
OR, next time she says where are we going to eat, tell her McDonald's for a hamburger and a glass of water because that's all you can afford.

Be up front and honest. Truth and honesty is the best route in any situation. If you do not want to hurt her feelings then say what you feel.

Just ask her if she is really the person for you she will understand, how ever my bf would never have to ask me to help out, because i care enough to pay attention to his needs and to be considerate to his feelings.

If she has a job and doesn't offer to pay, she takes it for granted that you need her more than she needs you.
