They are high dollar mutts. There are lots of low dollar mutts available at your local shelter I bet. ;)

The best way to learn about a crossbreed like a morkie is by doing lots of thorough research on both breeds. A crossbreed could end up with any characteristics from either breed. If there is something about one breed that you do not think will match your lifestyle, then don't get the crossbreed. It may or may not end up with that one trait that you do not like.
A typical morkie will probably end up as a very small dog that sheds very little and is extremely difficult to housetrain. It will probably be alert and somewhat energetic and bark a lot. Without proper socializing, it may end up extremely skittish and timid, so it should be introduced to as many new things as possible during puppyhood.
Please do not pay high prices for this crossbreed, though. It's not right to support people who sell mongrel puppies for $700 a piece. These dogs cannot be registered or shown, and are not a purebred. I recommend going to your local animal shelter and looking at the small dogs there if you're interested in a mutt.

I definitely agree with the poster who said that you should go and get yourself another dog at the shelter.
Mutts are lovable and great. Almost every single dog I have owned in my life have been mutts.
I honestly can't believe that some breeders are creating these interesting mixes (mutts in other words) and charging crazy prices.
Not only does the world have enough backyard pedigree breeders but, now we are starting with mutt breeders! Then when all these puppies show up at the shelter they will have a much harder time finding a home than a purebreed. Even more dogs to be put to sleep each day. Great! NOT.
I say, go adopt a lovable mutt at your shelter. Forget the extravagent prices to a whacky mutt breeder, give the money as a donation to the animal shelter when you pick your new pup up.
Good luck.

To learn more about the mutt that's a mix of a maltese and a yorkie, read up on both national breed club sites and join some yahoo groups devoted to the purebred dogs. Bring up to these people that you want a "mokie" and watch them cringe and laugh. See, no reputable breeder creates a dog like this. It's a direct violation of the national breed clubs rules and a violation of the AKC breeding guidelines. If they are that ethically challenged, why would ANYONE trust them?
If you want a mutt, visit http://petfinder.com for a great selection. They'll be far cheaper than the $1000 you'll pay for a poor quality most likely sick and genetically unsound dog. And rescued dogs always seem to know they are rescued.

What you are paying for is a Mutt..now they call them designer dogs. You don't want to waste your money on a mutt when there are so many mutts out in this world now for free and who would love a good home. These so call designer dogs have to stop and the only way it will is when people stop paying for them. It is a shame how people think designer dogs are worth that much money. I just shake my head. They can't be register with AKC. What papers they do have doesn't mean a hill of beans . Please if you want a mutt.. give one from a shelter a good home.

to learn more about this breed research both breeds and even research the morkie, but you also have to know that when looking at this kind of mix you have to know that because both breeds are small, you have to research hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and easily broken bones also, yorkie's are the only type of dog that only get one set of teeth, which means you won't be able to cheap out on dog food, you'll have to take care of those pearly whites, you'll also have to find a reputable breeder, i recommend petfinder.com ( just watch out for the breeders on there that come from Nigeria or really anywhere out of the country, there dogs tend to be in very...rough.. condition, don't know if its from the ride or the breeding circumstances but i wouldn't take my chances) but all in all there great companion breeds but you'll get more information through your own research that you would get off of yahoo!answers, especially from the people that tell you to just go ahead and get one from the pound, girl don't even get me started.

All they are is a mutt that somebody created and now they are selling them for a lot of money. (Designer dogs are no more than a mutt.) They would never be a registered/recongized breed in the AKC.
If you truely want to get a dog, go to your local animal shelter/rescue group. There are many animals who need us to save their lives today!
