Only if you work at more than one place. Then you can write off the cost from going from the first job to the second.

You can not claim driving from your place of residence to your job on your taxes. However, if your boss wants you to leave your main place of work and drive somewhere in your own vehicle to do some work then you can deduct that. Also, if you work two jobs and you leave one to drive to the other, I believe you can claim that also. Another thing is that if your company already reimburses you for miles driven, you can not deduct those miles. The best thing to do would be check with a reputable accountant. They can help you find deductions that would never cross your mind.

It's really more limited to people who own their own business...so just driving too and from work is likely not covered...but my parents own a sandblasting business and my parents were able to claim gasoline cost for going to job sites and the like.

No...you can only claim personal vehicle useage if you are using it for "company errands", deliveries and such...then ONLY the part your company doesn't reimburse you for!!!
