because we're practical and it makes more sense to get you something you'll need especially if you didn't hint to what you wanted, so if you don't know what he wants you get him something he can use

Is it tho, gifts I and my friends have bought guys would include computer games, stuff for playstation, xbox etc, ipods, watches, football tickets, clothes we think theyd look great in etc.....none of tht u cud really be said to actually need, its all luxury stuff tht is a want rather than a need. Think its only certain couples in loveless marriages tht buy theyre hubby an item he needs, but guess even tools like power drills lol which a guy may need, some may actually want for a hobby etc.....
Guys buy women gifts they may need rather than want, one of my mums friends got given an electric knife for carving the meat..... another a set of steak knives....another a hoover ....ouch practical household stuff is sooo not a gift its sumthin u need to buy.

Most women have a real tough time buying gifts for their guy. Maybe you should try to be a little clearer about what you really want (if you do try to relay that message).

Maybe because they are afraid to ask them what they want. They want it to be a surprise. Or maybe it is because when a woman asks a man what he wants for a gift he says "I don't know. Anything would be nice."

because from my experience when i ask a man what he wants they dont know what they want. I was asking my bf what he wanted for two months before christmas and he just said i dont want anything so in the end i just bought him and xbox 360 and some extra games then i had to set it up because he didnt know how!!

tell her the next gift you two get for one another is to be something more whimsical and not a practical gift. give her an example...:)

Well did you ask for what you want? We aren't guys and we can't read guy's mind, why don't you ask cuz when I buy stuff I think of guy stuff like cologne(sp?) and other guy stuff.

MAYBE BECAUSE WE FEEL THAT IF WE BUY SOMETHING THAT YOU NEED THAN MAYBE YOU LL USE IT MORE THAN JUST SITTING UP PLAYING A GAME OR LOOKING AT A PLASMA TV !
