This is about my relationship with my next door neighbors. They never want to park their vehicles in front of their own property. Even if only one of their cars is there (i.e, their driveway and front of their property is not taken by cars) they make a point to park their car in front of my property.

Check this out-- I've caught them waiting to see if no cars are in my driveway (which would seem to indicate nobody is home) and then they scurry out to move their car from their own driveway to park in front of my house! As if they are doing it on the sly! Now, it's not like they need their driveway for any purpose where it has to be cleared and why don't they park in front of their own house.

Snow season is here and last year they had parked in front of my house and shoveled snow onto my property which my family had to shovel again... in order to get their car out from our property.

Why would someone do this and how would you address this with your neighbor? Best answer 10 pts

If they are parking on a public street there's not much you can do. I say if you can't beat em join em. Go out & buy the ugliest vehicle you can find. If it were me, I'd spend $500 on an old school bus, paint it an obnoxious green, & have the words The Flying Green Pickle painted on the sides & park it in front of their house. If they are actually parking on your property I would put up a sign that says No Parking. Then every time they park there, call em a tow truck. I think they do it to piss you off & are trying to show they are dominant over you. People can be goofy some times. Whatever the reason, have fun with the situation & don't let em get you down.

If you have already spoken about this to them and they arent paying any attention throw some tacs in the road in front of your house and you and your family remember not to go anywhere near where you threw the tacs. After they get a few flat tires they wont want to park there any more. Or start parking in front of thier house . Invite some friends over and tell them to all come in seperate cars and have them park infront of the neighbors place
instead of shoveling snow make some big ice bricks with the snow and and then make a wall around your place. Make pretend friends with these people and then tell them that the cops have been watching your house because one of your second cousins is wanted for all kinds of things and everytime you leave your house you get pulled over . Tell them if they will let you and your family park at thier house so the cops wont bugg you all again. If you sprinkle sand or salt on the snow it will melt and you wont have to shovel.

There is nothing you can do about this. It's a public street and though they are being very rude (and very weird), they have the right to park on the public street. Unless they are actually blocking your driveway, they have the right to park in front of your house, rude and pointless as it is. They may be doing this to annoy you and they have obviously succeeded. I once had a neighbor like this, too, who spent a lot of time moving her car back and forth from her driveway to the front of my house. Frankly, I thought she was totally weird and very bored with little else to do in her life. She was an overweight, bitter and unhappy divorced woman of forty. Again, there really isn't much you can do, and I would try and ignore it as annoying as it is. If they are shoveling snow onto your property and IMPEDING your use of YOUR driveway, then the only thing you can do is call an attorney and have him or her send a letter to the offender (this will cost you and probably escalate the situation). The police WILL NOT get involved as it is obviously a neighbor dispute. You must live in a town home or other attached housing situation, I am assuming, and I suspect there are other issues that you have with them, and they with you. And to the poster who told you to call a tow (toe!) truck, that will not be an option, as they will not tow from a public street unless the car is disabled and not driveable. Also, do not vandalize the neighbor's car as a poster suggested, as you are going to be in a lot of trouble if you are caught. As for inviting them over for coffee and cake (as one poster suggested) that rarely works, because as I said, I suspect there are other things gong on between the two of you, and they may be totally unreasonable people, Again, I had this problem and it was VERY annoying but you have little recourse.

Actually, if you live on a public street, they can park in front of your house. However, they cannot park in front of a hydrant, and they cannot block your driveway. We had lots of friends over when we bought our first house. We had a neighbor ask if they could not park in front of her house because she was concerned with littering (not a valid point I thought) but because I wanted her to be comfortable, and it wasn't a problem with just parking on the other side of the street, I asked everyone to park somewhere else. No hard feelings, I wanted to be considerate. But if they are shoveling onto your property - I'd blow it right back on theirs. That is just being rude.

it doesn't hurt to ask. you should ask them nicely why they're doing this. and tell them exactly what you just told us. tell them that they have they're own driveway to leave there car and that you don't appreciate them putting their car in front of your house and shovelling snow on your property only to have your parents shovel again. are they parking their car right in front of your driveway? because that's against the law. if they're parking at a spot where it's not exactly in front of your driveway then i'm not sure the police can handle that. but if that bothers you then you should tell them that you don't like it. that' behavior is just weird!

That just sounds odd!! Sounds like they are trying to give the impression that they are never home!! Sounds like they may even want others that drive by to believe your home is actually theirs.

The only way to get them to stop is to confront them. Just approach them calmly and in a friendly way. Tell them that when they park in front of your home that it really causing you some inconviences, such as your snow problem, when you have visitors over they have no where to park, etc. Maybe even invite them over to have coffee and get to know each other, then approach the subject.

Dealing with neighbors that cause odd problems is never easy. I have the nosy neighbors from hell that read my Yahoo profile, printed it up, and passed it around calling it a Personal Ad. Then proceded to call a police friend to run the plates of a car in my driveway so they could share the news of another man being at my home when my husband was away. Little did they know it was my BROTHER visiting from Florida.

Good luck and I hope you come up with a resolution soon!!!

I'd come out and ask them what their reason is for doing this. more than likely it will turn ugly because they will probably deny it. they are very inconsiderate. I'd also contact the local government where you live to find out if you can do anything about this. i think a place i used to live where it snowed, we had to park on certain sides of the street on certain days for the snow plows to shovel.

Shoveling snow onto your property is illegal.

I'm assuming that you've already asked or told them not to park their vehicles in front of your place.

Personally, I would just start throwing liquid garbage onto their vehicles that they park in front of my house. Or play some sort of sport with a ball out front and keep hitting their vehicle with the ball.

Additional: To the idiot below me, I didn't suggest she vandalize the vehicle. I said that is what I would do. I never said she should do it. Learn to read correctly.

I REALLY feel for you, I have neighbors on both sides that just as ignorant. I'm sorry there is no way of dealing with the situation. We have tried talking nicely, contacting the city hall where we live & nothing can be done. Retaliation only causes more problems. See if you can try talking to them but don't be surprised if they act like there is no problem. Our neighbors on one side have loud parties & could care less about anyone else. The one's on the other side a just plain lazy, they still have up Christmas lights & they "STILL"stay lit 24 hours a day !

I work in the field of parking enforcement. You do not own the street in front of your house. That means anyone can park there. If you don't like it...too bad. There is nothing you can do about it. Try parking your car in front of their house...Oh wait..they don't care. Lighten up, life is too short. If he's too close to your driveway, that's one thing..that's not allowed. Other than that...too bad..sorry.
