I am in need of help and I believe praying works but I wanted to know maybe from some more experienced. I know that you can ask God to send you a sign about something you may ask him for but how do u know what the sign is and if you interpreted it the way he meant for you to?? Not to be rude but u just know is not really the answer I am looking for... I know he does things in his own time so how do you know when? And if you asked him to do it in a specific amount of time will he still do it in his own time? I'm not sure if the bible says anything specific about this but I will look there too just wanted others opinions.

I'd recommend doing a study into prayer and looking for prayer to work in your own life. You can look at prayer from another's perspective but it will not become real until you experience it yourself. Here are a few resources I know of that may be helpful:
John MacArthur's "Alone with God: The Passion and Power of Prayer"
Philip Yancey's "Prayer: Does it Make Any Difference?"

You did say others opinions, good question, not easy to give an opinion on. Again, as for interpretation you also have to pray for help on being able to get the right sign and at the right moment. I have seen some people pray for things and get them right away or in my case as you said in God's own time seems like our times never meet. Took 12 years to get one answer. In my opinion you can ask anything and expect more, bible does say he will bless you in abundance, but sometimes our definitions are different. Its mostly all about faith, take the step, ask and believe and keep your eyes open. Hope my rambling helps and best of luck.

Jesus knows when is the right time for your needs, and God planned your future before you born. Anything possible to Jesus.IIndivitually you will know according to your blessings, faith, communication, sacrifices, love one another, How you really practise Jesus foot steps to please Him? What you sow you will reap. jesus never fail you or any body, and He already sacrificed his life for you and all mankind. What more do you want other than Salvation. Be patient, keep praying, do good, love Jesus, ask God in mercy, repent your sins, trust Bible. God already send you a sign to be a true Christian and to believe Him with out a dout.No one can give you an answer for your life, accept jesus will know you better than any one of us. what ever you asking from Jesus it's right plan for you, it will answer very soon. may God bless you.

I'm just coming from my own experience. Sometimes I can hear Jesus when I've spent a long time praying and just being open to him. And it's not like he just says it in your ear, you just kind of realize it.

Jesus also does things on his own time. You can ask for anything, but He will do it when He feels it is appropriate. For me He usually shows me through little signs. Like if I'm reading something, there will be a line that just sticks out and it just hits me.

He also works through other people. Maybe someone will say something to you and it will be what you've been waiting for.

I would suggest looking for little things in your everyday life.

Hope this helps!

When Jesus gave his message about how to pray... do you remember that structure? Prayer and faith are based on accepting the good graces and will of God. If he doesn't answer one prayer to your liking, remember that. If we pray for our own desires we truely do not seek God's. Sure, he wants to know your needs and concerns. However, just as he gave us a great example on HOW to pray, we must use that example to know that God's Glory is far more important here and in Heaven than even our very lives.

You just have to be still and listen for the voice of God. He does not speak in actual words, but by merely giving you the wisdom. As someone once said, it's like a thought coming to you. However, the thought doesn't come from your own head but from Jesus.

For instance, I recently prayed to God and asked Him for guidance about something that was troubling me. I wanted to do a two day writing workshop, but it fell on the same weekend as a charity walk to raise money for hungry children. I hadn't officially signed up for the walk yet but I was thinking about it, and when I found out that it was the same weekend as the workshop, I was torn. I really wanted to do the writing workshop but I felt it was more important to provide for the hungry children.
So I prayed to God and asked for guidance. After a few minutes I felt the answer coming to me. God told me that if I really wanted to do the workshop, He wasn't going to tell me not to; as long as I did other charitable acts for the poor and hungry. This is just one of many times that God has spoken to me.

My friend , there is no source of any one particular answer , its through all things . you see the bible is written for many reasons , but the one that applies to your question is getting to know god on a personal level .. Continuing to seek out that small still voice , will be trial and error and he knows you will make mistakes but because you are seeking him in your heart even when you make a mistake he will turn it into a blessing just because you are working on a more personal relationship , he will honour it. He answers in many ways and the one that for me is very reliable is your gut feeling , you will know inside afterall that is where he is , in your heart, he dwells within you , he alone knows the minds and hearts of man , that means satan doesen't know your thoughts , a spoken prayer satan will answer if he chooses to mislead you but a thought or speaking in tongues he has no ability to interfere.. God will answer in a number of ways , sometimes its signs , other times it may be an audible voice, somtimes a word spoken from another person , but the bottom line is that when you get an answer you will just know that you know , this is what god wants you to do!!. It will come as an answer that will have a special meaning to you and you alone , he knows what motivates you and how to convince you of his will.. Now jesus will hardly ever tell you what you want to hear , lead you where you want to go , or do what you want to do !!The answer will be rejected by your flesh , but you will know in your spirit , its what you should do but be prepared , you wanted the answer, and your flesh will fight you on it .. But obedience is greater than sacrifice , and the lord will test you on how you are willing to obey ... What you have to watch out for is that if and when god starts speaking with you , the next voice you will hear is that of the enemy (satan) trying to desceive you , or it can work in reverse as well , sometimes satan will answer and then the next voice you will hear is that of god .. When ever you do get an answer you will know where it came from cause if it did come from god it will line up with his word , and thats how you know , you have to become familiar with his word and consiquently you become familiar with the author, its quite simple.. At the same time you will recognise the voice of the enemy even when he is trying to desceive you . I do hope this helps you a little. If I can be of any furthur assistance let me know raphamountain@yahoo.com

What we need to do is learn how to get tuned into how to hear his voice. We need to learn to distinguish his voice from the voice of the flesh which is not easy to do because the flesh speaks much louder than the spirit.

1 Kings 19:11 ¶ And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

This is the reason for the Holy Spirit. Many people believes the Holy Spirit dwells outside of them and only comes around when called upon but in reality, it dwells within each of us 24/7. The problem is, when it speaks to our soul, there is so much noise going on in our heads from daily living till we do not hear. This is why meditation is so important. Also the Holy Spirit does not repeat itself as our parents does trying to get us to do something. In my opinion, there are no external signs or wonders presented to modern people and the Holy Spirit relays messages to our souls from God.

Oh it works but answres are different to everyone. I think it's like any relationship getting to know how 2 communicate with one another and that takes time..
My boyfriend recently became a christian and he prays for the tiniest most detailed things and they get answered immediately. Its awesome to watch! But it's different for everyone and God will work to build your faith His way. Just keep pressing on
