To heal a broken heart you need a large bandaid and another man. When someone says they need some "freedom" it usually means he's found another girl and wants to explore the possibilities with her. I really hate to tell you that but I'm not one for lying to someone. I too was the victim of a girl that wanted to explore another guy so I let her go. She's happy now and so am I. She didn't deserve me and you should feel the same way.

It's up to you to take him back or not when it doesn't work out for him...I wouldn't.

I don't understand what that means?!
He wants you and yet he needs his freedom, as if you're a chain around his neck!
Whatever he's trying to do, whether be it letting you down easy or holding on to you, give him the space (freedom) he's asking for. While he is enjoying his so called freedom, enjoy yours. Take a deep breath and do things that you've been putting of for as long as you can remember, enjoy your friends, family, etc.
If he doesn't come back then good riddance. If he does come back, you lay down the rules, that is if you still want him. If not, good for you.
If I were you, I'll dump him!

It's 50/50, it sounds like he does need some room, it could just be that, or it could be that he's seeing someone else. Give it a few days and talk to him again, ask him if a relationship with you is what he wants...

And only time heals a broken heart.

i think he doesnt sound to finish with you, just want a little time. maybe he has some personal problems these days.
you said "He says he still loves me and that his goals for the future hasn't changed with me". so why are you feeling down ?

Yeah, probably. Typically the "I need space" talk is a prelude to a break up. Sorry.

Time, cliche' as it sounds, is a great healer though. If this does end just give yourself some time to grieve, refocus yourself, learn the lessons, and then move on.

break ups are never easy! try not to think about it to much... have a friend take you out to get your mind of things! he probably is scared or is feeling the pressure of making a serious commitment to you.

if this is your true love let him go... If he comes back to you then you know its was for real!

That's bad timing (just before valentines Day). I can't say what he really means but my advice to you is to go out with a male friend just for fun (no sex) and if your boyfriend finds out about it and does actually love you he'll suddenly decide he didn't need that space after all!

I am not a guy, but yeah, he is done...think about you now not him, time will help, but you can help now by not over rating what you had...take time, don't go back to him, ever, I am a very stupid woman who tried it for five years of a ridiculous on again off again relationship with a man who always called the shots...he only came back for his own lonliness and then dumped me again when he felt better...best to let it go for good...it is hard but far easier than getting played time and time again...chin up girl,,,good luck...

Let him go. The old adage still goes: "If you love someone let him go, if he is yours he will return; if not then he never was"
granted it is paraphrased but it still is true.
Getting over it takes time. Like it or not.
Be gentile with yourself. Remember it is easier now to let go then to have a life long sadness when you realize that it isn't right.

it takes sometime to mend a broken heart. just don't hate the person because you'll end up being a loser. let him do what he wants for now. he will come back if time permits. everything happened for a reason. someone better will come along your way soon.
