I am an atheist and I live in a world surrounded by Christians. All of my friends and every woman I have ever dated is a Christian. Out of all of the women I have dated I am friends with 2 of them. The others were untrustworthy. So far, Christian women have a bad track record.
Edit: I didn't know one could be half atheist.

Whether you trust someone or not has nothing to do being an atheist. My rule of thumb is that everyone gets a certain amount of trust. Then they either earn more or lose what they started with.
I have known plenty of people who have had difficulty trusting others and they were of different faiths (yes, some being Christian).
I think you are confusing Faith with Trust. They are not the same thing.

That atheists don't believe in god doesn't exclude them from believing in humanity. Many atheists are in fact "secular humanists." They are fully capable of trust, love, and the other virtues. They are good and trustworthy, and also statistically the most tolerant and accepting of other races and ideologies.
It can be said that atheists even have a higher regard for life - they don't see life as something to be "endured" until the end times or heaven as the religious do, they recognize and celebrate the improbability of life and know that this is it - live life to the fullest while you can.
Atheists also have the lowest rates for crime (including murder/rape), abortion, stds, divorce, etc. of any group in the world, and secular/atheist counties are by far the biggest contributors of foreign aid.
So they are a good and trustworthy lot.

I personally couldn't be married to an atheist simply because we would have different views on certain things. If you are going to be married to someone, you should be on the same page. I have friends that are atheists. We just don't shove our religions down each others throats. Atheists aren't evil because they don't believe in God, I just think it's sad. They can still be good people and worthy of trust. Just because someone says they are a Christian, it doesn't automatically make them a good person.
edit: how can you be half atheist? Just wondering..

"Do they see people as essentially good and worthy of trust as some Christians do?"
So you are saying that trust is not a trait of Christianity, seeing as you admit in your question that not all Christian trust...
That would infer that "trust" is a trait relying on things other than religious affiliation, thus an Atheist would be completely capable of trusting.
Furthermore, if a true Christian is taught that the only perfect being in the universe is God, and seeing as it is completely blasphemous to equate any human with the perfection that is God, then you must assume that all humans are fallible, and thus, not to be trusted.

Unfortunately in this society where Christians are supposed to carry themselves in a peculiar manner, where we are the light of the world, when you get right down to it, it many cases you can't tell an atheist from a Christian based on how they carry themselves or treat others. I don't know if I know any atheists because no one I know has come right out and said that they were/are. I do know many Christians. Most make me proud to call myself a Christian and a few don't. But that's life. Being a Christian doesn't make any of us perfect or fault free or keep us from making mistakes. We believe in God but sometimes situations make us feel like we need to take matters into our own hands rather than wait on God. As a Christian I couldn't/wouldn't marry an atheist and if I had atheist friends I would act holier than thou towards them or be preachy preachy towards them but I would share my beliefs with them and witness to the goodness of God.
I guess I said all that to say this, there are trustworthy people as well as untrustworthy people of all walks of life, whether they are Protestant, Catholic, Agnostic, Atheist, Jewish, etc. etc.

I'm an atheist.
Once I was late for a wedding and when I got to the church there was no street parking. The church (for some crazy reason) shared a parking lot with an apartment building. There were no open spaces in the lot. I left my car double parked with the keys in it and the window rolled down.
This was in a small city with a population of maybe 60,000. Do I sound like a trusting person or not?

I am an Atheist married to an Atheist and have many Atheist friends. I would like to know where you are getting your information from. I do wish people would stop comparing us to Christians, also. That is just absurd. The only common denominator among Atheists is our belief that God doesn't exist. Other than that, we are as messed up as believers are.

I'm an atheist engaged to a christian. My fiance lives 4 thousand miles away from me in Denmark, so we're in a long distance relationship. We have never once cheated on each other. Seems like we trust each other pretty well.
