I usually have to pay additional $9.90 for delivery and I give $5 tip. However I live in a highrise building and the doorman lend them the cart to carry everything to my condo at once. If they need to get to the stairs, you could tip more. Just remember all the time savings you make for not doing the grocery youself.

Between 10 and 15 dollars is proper I think, about 5% of your order. The delivery guy from the store gets paid by the hour anyway.

Don't know where you live, but... if you use Safeway online their drivers are not allowed to take gratuities. If it's some small private grocery place, treat them like a pizza delivery... couple of bucks should be fine.

Give him one of your groceries - make it like a "Make Me A Deal" kind of thing ... which bafg do you want to to choose from ... ooooh so sorry, you chose toilet paper ... bag 2 had steaks .. better luck next time.

It might take a little while, especially if he looks to the studio audience for help but it sounds like fun.
