For any tax whizzes out there I have a problem. I filed Single and 1 allowance all year. I made around 35,000 and when I filed I only got back 730. Something sounds kinda iffy about it. I dont know anything about taxes so if someone could help I would highly appreciate it. The guy who filed them says that I can have them ammended, but if they are right I dont wanna pay someone just to look at them if they cant get me more money.

That sounds about right.

If you had claimed zero on your W4 you would get a larger refund at the expense of a smaller paycheck throughout the year.

If you had claimed 2, you'd be just about zero refund -- within $50 either way most of the time but would have had extra $$$ in every paycheck during the year.

It's your call if you want to adjust your withholdings. Personally I HATE making interest free loans to anyone -- ESPECIALLY the government!

Being Single you dont get many tax breaks unfortunately; And if you made 35000, you dont qualify for Eearned Income Credit. But I would need more information to know exactly how to help you. If you'd like email me swim_girl2003 at yahoo.com
and i'll try to help you more.
