I keep hearing about weight gain methods, and how you should lift to gain weight (muscle), and how important lifting is. But you also keep hearing about how lifting is good for fat @$$es that want to lose weight. How does that work, I mean how does it help lose and gain weight. What does a person wanting to gain muscle mass do.

My friend Paul gained weight by eating a lot and taking weight gainers, during the weight gain he was strength lifting. Apparently this method works pretty well because he got buff.

First of all stop referring to overweight people as "fat @$$es" you small minded "f^^k".
While its true that muscle weighs more than fat, when lifting weights the fat will turn to muscle, for most "fat @$$e$" cannot just jump into weight training, as it will cause them to gain weight after time. Anytime you begin a weight loss regim, you loss water, thus the reason many will lose a lot of weight quickly at first, but jumping into weight training will cause the fat to turn to muscle, (meaning these "fat @$$e$ will easily be able to kick your @$$ because they will be bigger than you!). So best bet for you is to go to your family doctor and ask these questions to someone who is an expert on the matter of weight loss and weight gain.

Weight lifting adds muscle mass. Muscle mass is denser than fat, and also takes more energy to support. So for heavy people muscle mass:

- burns more calories
- the excercise required to gain muscle burns calories

For thin people who start eating more, weight training increases muscle mass, which adds useful mass rather than wasted fat mass.
