Everybody is different. That is a personal choice. One thing is forsure animals are like children. They are forever toddlers.
I like medium/big size dogs. I don't like small dogs as much.
I have learned to like cats. They have some interesting personalities.
My mom doesn't care for big dogs.
They all have different personalities. But before you get any pet you should do your research and see if that is the right pet for you. You could also become a foster home for one of the many animals that enter our shelters/rescue groups. They need lots of help and donations.

I believe that you should choose a breed that fits your life style and melts your heart, the one that appeals to you most will have the best home with you. I like many breeds, what I want to live with narrows them down for me, however everyone is different and my home and lifestyle may be much different than yours, also what I would want to spend time doing with a dog may not be the same as what you would like to do. A breed in dogs and cats refers to names like Great Dane (which is in the working group) or Yorkshire Terrier (which is in the toy group) or Persian or Siamese in cats. In dogs the groups are separated by what they do basically, except for the non sporting group, which was where just about everything was initially before many other groups were divided off. They were either sporting or non sporting. That is, as far as AKC groupings were in the beginning, as time went on, groups were divided off with dog breeds going into the group they fit into best. If you simply want to know what is popular, the AKC lists the breeds by popularity according to how many were registered each year. Different breeds have been popular in different years, or decades. Right now the Lab and the Yorkie are the most popular breeds. In cats I believe the Persian is the most popular breed. The largest cat registry in the US is the CFA (Cat Fancier's Assoc. The links below will give you the break down of dog breeds by popularity, and another is a link to AKC breed descriptions.

Yes, the 'breed' is Great Danes, Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Beagle, etc. The 'group' would be 'Working' group, in which Great Danes are members, Terrier group, Hound group, Herding group, Sporting group, non Sporting group, Toy group. Far as I know that's all. There might be a miscellaneous group, not sure. I can't help you with the cats. I'm a dog person.

They have feelings for sure. I'm a sheep farmer, on with lambing at the moment and the ewes that have given birth most certainly show feelings to their lambs. Yes it is instinct but the emotion (for want of a better word) is definitely there. As someone else said, animals eat animals, and we are animals.... It is personal choice whether we eat the flesh of animals, for some people the idea is abhorrent, which is fine, to others it is perfectly acceptable, which is also fine. And yes in this modern world it is a fact that many animals are only here to be eaten.

The breed would be "Great Dane or Poodle" whatever you like. As far as cats, I have 6 and I say I like rescue barn cats. They are the most loving and appreciative. Always try to adopt before you spend tons of money on $$ cats and dogs. Pure bred dogs are nice but unless you are going to show them, I cannot see spending the money. Just my opinion!

I guess only the person who asked the question initially will know what it means, but I assume it means particular breed, such as Great Dane or Yorkie and not group or category.
I love Maine Coon cats!!!!! I also really like Scottish Folds, but they aren't very common. Good ole domestic mixed breed cats are pretty rockin' cool, too, though.

Well you answer it by deciding what your preference is, whether it is a small dog or big.
Maine Coons for cats are nice. They';re very big, fluffy and known for their friendly and laid back attitude. Although my favourite is definitely any DSH, DMH (Domestic Medium Hair) or DLH (Long Hair) because they're the equivalent of canine mutts.
The pic you showed seems to be a Domestic Short Hair (DSH) which has the colour of Brown Tabby with White.

It does mean like Great danes, german shepherds... things like that, but if you are undecided on a certain breed but that you like small dogs rather than big, then you say i like small breeds... about a favorite breed of cat there are tabbys, mane coons, persians, siamese, and if its a mutt then you say domestic short hair (if its obviously a short hair cat) or domestic long hair (again if it has long hair)... I hope this was helpful!!
