Ok, so I have been anorexic for years, and then all of the sudden it switched over to binge eating and bulimia. Sometimes I don't purge after a binge... I have gained 20 pounds in 3 months and I really hate it. Is this common? What can I do? I just want a freaking happy medium.
No mean comments please. Well actually mean comments might be alright since I really am just a fat lard and maybe some motivation will help.
But seriously, only answers from those who know what I'm going through, please.

There are usually two parts two bulimia. The binge, and the purge. The binge is when a person eats a massive amount of food in a short period of time, and the purge is when they get rid of it, either through self-induced vomiting, or exercise, laxatives, or fasting. So, non-purging bulimia is when someone will binge and eat a lot, but not try to get rid of it. This is also known as BED, binge eating disorder. I've never heard of a purge type anorexia, but I'm guessing that they would eat very little, but throw that up. The main difference is that bulimics will eat a TON of food, and anorexics will eat not nearly as much. You are correct, when you throw it up, you're bulimic, and when you starve you're anorexic. But, these two disorders are so closely related, that it's not uncommon for a person to have both, and go back and forth between bulimic and anorexic behaviors.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I was anorexic for 5 years then after my second treamtent center I went full blown bulimic and binge eating. I dont' know what went on in my head, but I am seeing a counsolar, and the only thing I can think of that is working is constant homework assignments from books that I got from amazon.com on bulimia and binge eating. I'm keeping a food journal. I hope you can find help I know it's very hard.

I don't know that this is common, but I do know a little about the anorexia/bulimia as it is something I've struggled with for years. You're at the point where you really need to get professional help. Eating disorders are practically impossible to handle on your own. But do it soon before you balloon up.

You have just switched addictions, my dear. You use to not eat because of your emotions and now you eat too much because of your emotions. Until you solve that problem, you will always do something destructive to yourself.

That means you need help. I suggest trying OA first. Everyone there isn't obese---but they all have the same thing in common---they eat emotionally. They can tell you how to deal with things in your life without turning to food.
