Iran is involved in aiding the war and happens to be easier to target than some of the other groups like Al-Quada or Sunni insurgents even though these groups may be partially beholden to Iran for help. With this is mind even if one of these three foes could somehow be eliminated (not likely) the war would still rage on.

B-HOLE sounds like a broken record. While oil is important it is more secondary as just the fact the US military is operating is such a large industry with so many military related companies with vested interests.

I would suggest that the Bush administration is using the situation with Iran (which has existed for a long time) to take the attention away from the problems the American people are having with the Iraq war. I support the troops over there for their bravery and their dedication to duty but quite frankly, I don't think it was worth even one of their lives in this instance. The people of Iraq (like the colonists pre-American revolution) have got to take responsibility for themselves. They allowed Saddam to lead them for all those years. Yes, I know he was brutal and unfair and all that but you would have thought that if enough of the people really hated him, someone would have taken him out long ago. Their is none stronger than a revolutionary army.

Because the US wants their oil and will do or say anything for an opportunity to take it. This is pretty obvious after finding out the US was selling weapons to Iran and Iraq during the war between those two.
