My baby is now three, so i am trying to remember...I believe when he was 2 1/2 months I started mixing a little rice cereal into his formula (not the bottle) and fed him by spoon. Every other day I would increase the amount of rice cereal until he was eating solid foods at about 3 1/2 months. I think all in all he was on formula for 5 months max and then he was eating solid foods and drinking regular milk. But it all depends on how your baby reacts to Milk. My son spit up terrible with all the different types of formula we tried but as soon as he was able to digest Milk he was able to keep it down a whole lot better. Hope that helps a little bit.

My first child was formula fed because I had a serious medical problem that kept me from breastfeeding that time. He was (and still is) on the small side so I kept him on formula for about 13-14 months, with occasional cow's milk after 12 months. Since the formula was meant for babies and it was full of nutrients I felt better about giving that to him. My next two children were breastfed for about 18 months apiece and began to drink cow's milk from a cup at about 13 months during the times that I wasn't breastfeeding- like with a meal, snack, etc. when they weren't drinking juice or water.

I breast-fed both my kids until about 12 months. Then at about 16 months they drank whole milk. For the in between period I was actually mixing some whole milk with formula and giving them a combo.

I started at 11 months on 1% milk...and no problems yet. But I say try out all of them to see which one is best. I don't recommend you to start off on whole milk sometimes the baby might get constipated or anything...But the 1% works fine.

My daughter was completely off the bottle at 16 months, so that is when she last had formula. I still used the rice cereal for breakfast, so I used regular milk in that instead of the formula after she turned one, so she would get used to it.

i took my daughter slowly off... it you just take them straight off it could hurt their bellies...but at 11 months i started giving her 4 oz formula and 4 oz 2% milk then gradually get less formula and more milk...then when off of the formula completely go from 2% to whole the same way
