Hi, i remember reading a tip about this, if you put a ice cubes on the parts that are indented, it lifts up the pile, the only problem is you end up with a wet carpet. I have tried it before and it does work, be live it or not.

There are a few good methods. First, vacuum the area thoroughly to remove dust and debris. This should lift the fibers a little. Wet a towel and wring out so that it is just damp. Lay the damp towel over the fibers for a day. Allow to completely dry. If this doesn't rejuvenate the fibers enough. You may also steam out the indent. According to the manufacturer of the iron fill with water. Hold the iron 6-8 inches from pile surface to avoid burning or melting the carpet and apply steam. Rub the fibers of the carpet with the side of a quarter gently and carefully. The quarter will get hot so don't burn your fingers. This should help the fibers to stand up again. If not. get your carpet steam cleaned by a professional. Truck mounted hot water extraction is best to protect your carpet and provide maximum suction. The truck mounted high vacuum extraction will guarantee the most water removed from your carpeting.

Good luck

Try to dampen the area and then brush up with a hair brush. Having had your furniture in place for such a long time it's likely there will always be an indentation there. I've seen some, good quality carpets, recover if the pile is thick enough. Hope this helps in some way.

Beware using heat. Many carpets these days are synthetic and it could actually melt your carpet!

try a warm iron over a tea towel to lift the pile back up, you may have to repeat if the first time doesnt work.
