Any suggestions? I took a job with a pay cut but the benifits are great. It just still doesnt seem to balance out.. I am a single mom and own my own house but am afraid I will lose it. I dont like asking for help at all and am thinking of getting a night job at a strip bar for some extra money. Is that awful?

There are alternatives. Good advice as to go to your local bank and seek help that way. Maybe refi your home to an intrest only loan for the time being until you get the job that is the best for you in terms of benefits and pay. Check out Consumer Credit Counseling if you have a lot of bills - they can work with your creditors for a temporary solution to reduce your payments and they are non-profit.

As far as being a stripper ... If I were you, I wouldn't degrade myself like that, but if you are comfortable in being a stripper and it makes ends meet, you have to do what you have to do whats best for your child.

Good Luck.

Do not listen to "Edward W" or "bmac" from above. Those are ignorant answers.

A man cannot sell his body for money and will have to buy grains to eat and used clothes at Goodwill until he gets caught up with money owed. A woman might enjoy the love life at a strip bar but it seems the pressures from society and health dangers make a sex worker nervous. Some do it for the pure excitement and like to have an excuse for the joy. When they are old and wrinkled they paint up and sit up front in church. God bless you girl . You know what you will do. If you don't give in to this pressure I will send you some money.

There's nothing to be ashamed of, hell i'll even tip you ;)

Its pretty sad with the state of our economy now. Sounds like you kept things together in the past and didn't have to worry about money so much. You may qualify for food stamps and that is nothing to be ashamed of. If you want to avoid being a stripper, you can be a bartender. Thats fun too. The thing is with the stripper world, you may be tempted with other things back stage, which may not be good for you. Keep that in mind. Explore all options first! Good luck!

Try cutting expences that you don't need.....like internet! If you have a cell phone get ride of it. Cook at home! Live on soup, rice and beans if you have to...especially if you have a kid. You should get out and collect cans, work part time for mcdonalds, taco bell . whatever it takes! (maybe not striping, but something)

Strippers can make a good living. It be worth it as a part time job. Just make sure the kids' teachers don't catch you.

Visit your local bank and talk to a financial advisor/consultant - it should be a free service - and they will give you the best advice.
