I just want to understand. I'm not selling or pushing anything. Everyone who answered my last question assumed I was pushing my own view but I'm really trying to get another perspective on life. I want to understand the other point of view.

What tells you to be a good person? What tells you that a terrorist or a criminal is a bad person?

I'm not asking for a justification of your existance I'm asking for an explaination of your beliefs.

I hope it is the same thing that tells you what is right and what is wrong. It is our society, and human nature. More-so is the factor that good things happen to societies that do good deeds. We are all part of society and need to contribute to make everyone's life better.

What tells me that I am a good person? Nothing. I am a helpful person. I am a friendly person. Good and bad are matters of opinion. In other words, I may be considered an ****** by someone else for holding the door for an old lady. If that's what someone wants to think- fine! But there is no universal good and bad rule that will determine whether his opinion is correct or not. Same thing goes for the criminal and the terrorist.

God's absolutes are what tell me what is right and wrong. Society would have you believe that we can live a relativist life, i.e. you do what you want and I'll do what I want and anything is okay as long as you don't hurt anyone. But you bring up a good question. Then what DOES tell us that hurting someone is wrong? God created us in His image and part of that image is the internal sense of right and wrong and along with that we also have the benefit of His Word, the Bible to clarify specific deeds of right and wrong. And for anyone who doesn't believe what I'm saying, my question would be---if we evolved from primordial goo, then where DID we get this sense of right and wrong?

Just as the inventor of a product is ideally placed to speak on how that product should be dealt with, so the Creator of man is ideally placed to state what is the best conduct ....right and wrong.
He makes things clear in the Bible.
Its a good manual to follow.

Your Humanity and common sense tells you what is right and wrong. If I hit you with a big stick, steal your goods and tell lies about you, is that right or wrong? I do not accept that we need a God to provide us with absolute values. I think our values have developed along with our society. I will admit to being a secular relativist.

I happen to be a theist, but I still use my common sense and the basic rules of right from wrong that my parents taught me.

(Nearly every nation, every religion, and every philosophy has their version of "The Golden Rule"...I think that developed long ago as part of our being a social primate, since many other primates seem to practice it as well.)

I respect and appreciate the Lord.
I respect authority.
Peace out.

The best way I can tell what is right and wrong to a Christian is to ask one question: What do Jesus Christ think about that?

Everyone knows the difference between right and wrong, and it is not necessary to have an imaginary god to tell you what is right and what is wrong.
