Just got my 2003 Grand Cherokee back from the shop. I took it in because I noticed when I went to get gas that there was no metal flap to protect the tank from debris. I opened the "door" on the side of my Jeep, removed the gas cap, & in all of my other vehicals there was a metal slidding flap that moved once the gas nossel was inserted. It wasn't there on my Jeep. The shop said that my Jeep just doesn't come with one. Is this true? Is it safe without one? Won't debris get into the tank? Sorry if this is confusing, but thanks for the help.

i own a shop, and no debris wont get in to it as long as you keep the gas cap on it ,and on this one you have to anyway and always turn it until you hear at lest 3 clicks from it,but your alright on this one, some cars know days don't have them in there, that cap is only off while your getting gas,so its fine, good luck i hope this help,s.

Don't worry about it. That little flapper thing isn't going to make any difference.
That's what your gas cap is for.
