You will shorten his life expectancy by 3 years by keeping him outside. Even less than that if you don't keep up with the vet visits and heart worm medicine. What good is a dog tied up outside? So you can yell shut up at it? Why have one at all? My loving dogs stay with me, I have them house broke and they are good company, they make me laugh, feel loved, keep me warm. In return I take care of them, vet visits, weekly baths, nail trims, long walks, treats. They are like children and need to be cared for.

We have 2 chihuahua's, as indoor dogs. They would never survive here in Wisconsin, as outdoor dogs. We have had larger outdoor dogs in the past, but having these little dogs has made me realize the potential of any dog when paired with a loving master. They get lonely when left alone, just like a person. The personality just explodes when they can interact with you. These dogs love the outdoors. they will play for hours in our fenced yard. But when they are called, they know the reward is coming inside and interacting with the family.

I would make it an indoor dog, due to the type of dog. If you made it an outdoor dog, which most dogs that are tied become agressive and you are starting with a type of dog that is already an agrassive type. you can be sued big time if the dog bites someone and the dog can be put to sleep. The law does not care if you keep the dog tied or fenced in and someone come's inside on your property you are still responsible, and the dog will be put to death. It is best to keep it where you can keep an eye on it.

There are many things on the market for fleas. I have learned the hard way. I have tried many, many products! It all boiled down to purchasing Frontline or something compatible from the vet. Start now before the infestation gets worse! Preventative measures goes a long way. Some people think the flea season doesn't start yet. I beg to differ. Fleas live on animals all year, they stay tucked away under the animals coat and continue to multiply. Grant you some months are a lot worse. There are some things used for the yard, be very careful!!! Dogs have different reactions to chemicals. Some can not be affected while others could become extremely ill.

Indoor. Pitbulls - despite popular belief - are very sensitive dogs. Also both dogs are short hair so the cold would affect them more. Both of these breeds - when raised properly- are loving, cuddling, sweet dogs and as an indoor dog you should be giving them that love. Be able to spend time with the dog more, etc.

Definately INDOOR!!!

I would make it an indoor dog. Dogs are meant to be inside with their owners. That is the reason you are getting a dog isn't it? For companionship? People who keep their dogs outside are mean and don't care about their dogs. There are several people in my neighborhood who have outdoor dogs and they should be arrested for animal cruelty. The dogs are never played with, they have no food or even water that I can see when I drive by. So what is the point in having a dog if you are going to keep it
outside?
Also, dogs are loving, caring, compasionate, and protective. They need love and compassion in return to flourish and live.
I never liked dogs until my fiance got a Samoyed/Golden retriever mix. I fell in love with her and love her like my baby. Dogs bring joy to your life and make you happy when you are blue.

Never make a pit bull an outdoor dog. They like to be outside with you. They are family dogs and want to be with you and need to learn from you their entire life. Keeping them isolated only teaches them not to be people friendly and thats when they may attack some child running down the street when it happens to get loose.

Sharpeis are not as people oriented as pits and can do fine without them but will most likely become stand offish and avoid people if it is isolated.

So to answer your question inside only. To raise a happy healthy well adjusted pet with this mix I would not even think about isolating him.

I don't understand why anyone would keep a dog outside. What's the point of having them as a pet then? Not trying to be judgemental... just never understood it.

I vote for INDOORS! :-)

depends....
on one hand, that dog will be short-haired with nothing to protect him from the elements....and if you live somewhere warm all the time, remember that a shar-pei does not do well in extreme heat.

I'd make this an "indoor" dog. Dogs do better when they live with you.

If you are bringing a dog into your home...WHY would you comdemn it to live alone, outside, where Lord knows what could happen to it? Dogs are pack animals and social creatures. When you bring one into your life, it it totally dependent on you for everything. You are asking it to share it's life WITH you.
If you are concerned about chewing and pottying, I would suggest getting a crate for sleeping in and for when you are not at home. If you do not want to DEVOTE your time and energies that it takes to train, love and CARE for the dog, please don't get one. (think about it...would YOU like to spend your life in the yard?)
