I am assuming you have HD cable or HD satellite. On mine, I took off the component cables, hooked the (in my case) HDMI to DVI cable between connections on the TV & the cable box. Then, I discovered I still needed an audio cable( 2 male connectors on each end-red & white) to go from audio 0ut on the cable box to audio in on your receiver. If you don't home theatre receiver, ignore that last step.

Very easy. You just plug it in. HDMI out on your BluRay/HD-DVD or HD satellite/cable box or PS3 to the HDMI in on your HDTV. It carries both digital video and audio so it's the only cable you need (one per device). Just select the input on your TV like you would any other input and you should have a picture!
