Bless you, precious lady for your love and giving to this beautiful dog girl. You will be rewarded richly...you already are being rewarded by her love. This dog loves you so much...you are now the center of her Universe as she practically lives around your home area.
If you can, please contact the owners, though, dear. See if they are missing her. Perhaps they have been crying and grieving that she is gone. You would be doing the family a great service.
If they don't want her back, perhaps you could persuede your family to at least allow you to have a nice house for her outside. Outfit the house with all the blankets/pillows and put the dog house against your home. This will keep the heat in. If it truly DOES get cold, perhaps you could ask your family if she could nest in the garage or in a corner. Keep her warm and safe...who knows, maybe your family would grow to love her as one of their own.
I truly wish that the people like you would increase in our world. Any society is judged by how the weakest and neediest are treated. You are another St. Francis of Assissi!

If she doesn't have a tail and looks like a Border Collie, she's probably an Australian Shepherd.
And if she has a collar and tags, you're right, she has an owner and they most likely paid a lot for her. Now, whether they care about her or not seems to be the issue at hand.
If she hardly leaves your house and nobody seems to be looking for her or coming to your house to bring her home, then I have to question whether or not her owners really care about her or not.
If I were you, I would try contacting her owner (Though her vaccination tags) and have your mother talk to them to see why they don't seem to care about their dog. It may very well be that they're just hoping that she never comes back one of these days and that they would be happy to give her to a loving home. Then all you have to do is convince your mom to let her stick around!

if its not your dog, you cant keep it... simple as that. if it DIDNT have a collar than you could think about it, but the fact that it HAS a collar, means you should take her back to her owners, tell her the situation (that she keeps coming back) and YOU should STOP buying her things, this will only make her want to come to you. yeah, that may sound all good and happy, but try to imagine that you have a dog you love very much, and it keeps running away to who knows where doing only God knows what. and each time the dog spends more and more time untill you beloved dog disapears alltogether. would you be happy about that? no, and her owners wouldnt be either. if you keep her and they find out, they can take the law into play. DONT be stupid, if you really want a dog, go to a shelter, there are dogs there that need someone to love.
in the end its up to you to make the right choice... i just hope for the dogs safety... you make the right choice.

think about if it were YOUR dog that was lost and you did not know what happened to it. How would YOU feel about it then? I had something like that happen when I was just a kid like you. I was 15 and had a dog I adored and went everywhere with and was training. She was beautiful and apparantly someone else thought so too. She came up missing one day and I was heartbroken. Went for miles around in tears searching for her and never did find what happened. that was 40 years ago and I still tear up just thinking of her and I have never had another dog since. Put yourself in the place of the one that lost her and then you will know what the right thing is. when you see the owner come for her or you take her to them and see the relief on their faces and the tears of joy and gladness, then you will know YOU did the RIGHT thing and you never know, you may even be up for a pup from her then but it can be YOUR pup. Do the right thing and return the dog to the owner. Don't put them through Hell like the one that took my dog did to me. Have a heart.

First of all why do you have a dog running lose? He could be hit by a car or mauled by another dog... then you wont have him anymore... as for the new dog that you like, find the owners and let them know that she keeps coming over to your house and maybe you can pet sit for them when they arent around... as for that, respect your parents and don't try to keep this dog thats already owned =) Hope this was helpful!!

Before you get too attached, i'd call her vet. There should be a phone to the vet on her tag, and give him the id # on the tag. He'll contact the family and no more worries.
It may be hard to get rid of her, but it will be good for her rightful owners to have her back. How would you feel if you were in their position?

I doubt if a border collies tail is docked it may be an australian shepherd. I would suggest finding her owner. It is not safe for dogs to run free anywhere anymore.

Call the vet that the tag is from, there should be some kind of serial # on it, they'll be able to tell you who the owners are.

if that dog is coming to yours all the time, she doesn't have owners who care enough about her to keep her with them and safe ask your parents if the dogs owners agree can you take the dog on.dogs and kids are good together its been proven!good luck, the dog deserves a proper owner and there is you ready and willing to be just that.
