..for a sunset? For color itself, fragrance, the feeling of warmth, healthy children? Imagination, love, the pleasure of meaningful activity? The intricate balance of the universe that makes life possible?
G. K. Chesterton wrote, "If my children wake up on Christmas morning and have someone to thank for putting candy in their stocking, have I no one to thank for putting two feet in mine?"
An atheist friend of mine once, in a moment of vulnerability, confessed to praying sometimes, saying thanks..."just in case."

When what some call a universe birthed by randomness can afford such wonder, such joy... such order and appropriateness, how can they say those things really contribute toward the raw bottom line of survival and reproduction?

Romans 1:18 tells us the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
For his invisible attributes, namely his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived ever since the creation of the world, in the things that are made. So they are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God, or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their hearts were darkened.
