in the next few months I want to get a dog. I have 4 year old twins and one is a little afraid of dogs. Any advice on how to get her ready for a dog?

I have some great advice. Every Saturday your local PETSMART will have adoption days. Take the twins there and let them roll around in the cages with the puppies. A few saturdays spent doing this will solve that problem. While you are at it you just might find the perfect doggie.

If you have any good friends with small dogs (older dog, thats not to bouncy!) you could ask them if you could visit with them.
Otherwise choose the breed your gonna go with and find a kind breeder who will let you introduce your daughter slowly.
I would say the most important thing is not to force her to do anything, that just makes fears worse.
Hope all goes well.

Go visit some puppies that are near ready to be weaned and just watch. There is nothing more fun at that age than a litter of puppies. They will want to play with them, no doubt.

my kids were terrified of dogs when we got the new one cos the old one was put to sleep for attacking them so i got a tiny mongrel and told them to nurse it cos it was only a baby one of the kids was scared if it ran to them and would scream and get on chair but i told her she was scaring the poor baby so she stopped her screaming.now they love dogs and we have got a much bigger dog now that they have no fear of at all.it will do your timid child god to own a dog.cavalier spaniels are very tolerant around kids.don't get a terrier cos in my experience they can be intolerant towards a screaming child.
