They can do whatever they want they are like a Nazi gestapo organization with unlimited powers and little over site, and the law protects them because all they have to do is say "we were worried about the children's safety" then their off the hook. Your only recourse is to hire a good lawyer and deal with them in court. Remember the DCS is there to steal children and adopt them out because they receive Federal money only when they keep the system going by adopting out children.....so in short they attack your family in order to feed theirs.

It is very difficult for the DCS to remove children from a home. I actually think there are too many guidelines in place allowing children to stay in abusive homes indefinitely. Usually you will have a social worker come to your home (or whoever's home this is) and they will speak with you, the children and then observe them in their home environment. If they find no reason to remove the child i.e. marks on their bodies in particular children the case is usually closed. I think that the DCS has its hands tied too tightly when it comes to protecting children.

If there are signs of physical abuse they can just take them. The kids really just have to have food and a bed in the house. I've seen people be investigated and their houses were filthy and they still got to keep their kids because they had food for them and beds for them to sleep in. I would call the people and ask them. Although I do not believe it is right for kids to be living in a filthy house or with parents that could care less about them.

I agree with amanda m. However, make sure you have your house clean (not magazine cover perfect) but dishes kept up, trash out, not a bunch of clutter. Make sure the kids are well taken care of-fed properly, enough sleep, etc. Just good 'ol normal basics. There are other factors too. Not sure what they are.

I think that's going to depend on a lot of factors - the state's regulations, the situation, the age of the children, etc. etc.
Need more information.

if they feel your child is at risk they will take your child to protect it. i'd start honing up on your parenting skills if you think they're thinking about taking your children.
