Because it's either fight the terrorists in their own country, or draw our soliders back and let the terrorists come to the U.S. and harm our country and our society.

No one has ever said "we need war". War is a very ugly thing and many people get killed and that's why we need to avoid it at all cost but others don't care and they keep murdering thousands of their own people for no reason thus it gets us involved.

If you don't like helping other people, I'm sorry but you don't deserve to be saved by our military should the terrorists come here (and they've already been here in case you didn't know).

The war in Iraq is the war I assume you are referring to. Cause the war in Afghanistan is actually a war that is for something. But, as far as the war in Iraq goes. The reasons why we are there are debatable, the legality of the war is extremely debatable. But, the mass loss of life is a direct result of the people in charge not realizing what they were getting themselves into. And for the posters on this site who say we have to fight the terrorists in their country... Umm, the war in Iraq has bred more terrorists then any terrorists group could have ever dreamed. And if your naive enough to believe that terrorists aren't in the USA then you have a rude awakening coming I'm sure. Just because they haven't attacked doesn't mean they won't

Disregarding the reasons claimed by the government, this is as much a humanitarian mission as anything.

The fact of the matter is, Saddam Hussein was a vicious tyrant, and his officials were no better.

Now, clearly the official reason we're over there is to secure resources..likely to profit bush and cheney...

But, on the other end, we are helping a country pull itself up from the hell that Hussein unleashed upon the region.

So, that's the idealist's answer for you. Surely we're losing people in this fight...but I truly believe it is the duty of all to help those they can. The government's motives disregarded, we're doing something ultimately noble.

We don't need the war. Bush, Blair and their associates the oil companies and the money from their taxpayers are using their country armies only for their own benefit, sacrificing young people in a useless war.

you're right, the US should pursue a policy of isolationism, just as it did following World War One.

That worked out for the country, right?

The war is not directed where it needs to be directed to. We are losing lives in Irag for what? I just got out the military and I find it hard to believe that we can find Saddam but we cannot find Osama. We need to really sit back and think about what is REALLY going on.

That is the stuipidiest question I've ever heard. If we turn tail and run what will that say about us? It will tell the WORLD that Americans are cowards! COWARDS! Not great humanitarians who are willing to fight for what is right, but cowards who run when the going gets tough.
While we're at it why don't we just tell China and North Korea to come over and occupy Japan and South Korea? Why not? We're to scared to fight and defend out allies. With that same cowardice we can invite the Middle East into the USA and let Sharhia law take over; not sure about you but I've always wanted my wife to wear a veil and burkha; plus I can beat her, rape her, and divorce her without cause! If you want to turn tail and run, move to France; they have already and Islam is taking over their country and that same cowardice is allowing it.

She IS real!

This is no longer a war, it's an OCCUPATION. And being an occupier is extremely difficult. It is not our job to police that country. And we should nto put ourselves in the middle of a civil war.
