You answered you own question. They don't believe until something bad happens. Why dont they understand that Satan is just as active on this earth as God is.

I don't get mad at any gods because there aren't any. And I don't think there will be in the future, either. So if things go wrong, a god does not suddenly appear for someone to believe. I think the people you are talking about never were true atheists - maybe agnostics would be a better term for them.
If someone dies at 90 years old, or 90 days old, in the terms of the universe, we are all here for only a blink of an eye.

You are confused. A real Atheist cannot be mad at something which they believe does not exist. Perhaps they were Agnostic but claimed to be an Atheist. I don't blame God, he doesn't exist to me. I understand that sometimes a body is not strong enough to withstand an accident, or a terrible disease or cancer got ahold of them. The human body is fragile, that's why I wear my seatbelt. Seriously though, I am very tired of people generalizing Atheists like this. Please refrain from doing that in the future.

Who told you that? I don't know any atheists who are mad at a god that doesn't even exist. Neither do I know any who suddenly believe in god for any reason. What would be the point of that?

Next time this happens, why not be a little callous and stop them and ask, "But I thought you didn't believe in God?"
You'll find that they don't. In the western world, 'God' is used as a generic term to describe any naturalistic but unexplained cause (Acts of God, in insurance ring a bell?). More properly, they're just mad in general that the universe is not fair or existing the way they think it should be.
The effect is cultural, not religious. Sorry.
There are, indeed, atheists in foxholes.

LT: So do you believe or disbelieve in the existence of the Invisible Pink Unicorn?
And if you disbelieve, does that mean you actually believe because you disbelieve?

Interesting question. I have always wondered how an atheists states they don't believe in God, how do you not believe in God if he doesn't exist? You have to admit that something or God does exsist to not believe in it. Maybe a lot of atheists believe more in God than they want to admit.

I've had lots of things go wrong in my life and I've never resorted to worshiping the imaginary sky pixie. What in the world makes you think atheists jump toward god when things go wrong?? I have truly been an atheist in a foxhole. Literally.

Get mad at a non-existent thing? I never heard of an atheist doing that.

I'm not aware of that occurring. If it did, they weren't really athiests, now where they?
I've heard the saying "there are no atheists in foxholes." Nothing like bleak desparation to attract someone to religion, eh?
