That depends on what you are asking about, first I would drop all instances where love=like, ie. I love apple pie, I like apple pie.
What is left can easlily be broken in to 2 prime catagories:
Agape, latin for brotherly, or family love.
Eros, latin for romatic love. This is NOT sex.
But there is a connecting factor between both of those definitions, and to me probably the prime definition of love anywhere: When I love a person, my own happiness is contingent on that person being happy.

Love is when you can't think about anyone else but who you are in-love with. At night all your dreams are about them. At the end of the day you can't wait to see them because you have missed them that much. When you close your eyes you see them. When you talk about them you go on and on about them. When you think of who comes first in your life they usually rate 3 or 4 depending on your list of importance. When you think of a best friend who will be down for you no matter what you think of them. I hope this helps you out. This is how I know.

It's a chemical reaction that happens in the body due to over exposure to a certain combination of personality traits and physical attraction. Some might see it as an addiction to said combination.

love is what came into my life 11 days ago. since i met her i haven't slept, i long for her night and day, i am skipping around like a ten year old ( i am 51 ) , my heart is hurting, my body is melting and i am in a good mood all the time. i am burning with desire for her and i want to make her mine. THAT IS LOVE.

It's when you have a person that you care about and no matter what happens or who says what you still want them there with you for the rest of your life. I haven't experienced it yet but I dream enough to almost think someday it will happen to me.
