I just took him to the vet yesterday , to get him fixed, he's already drinking and walking around, I wonder when will he start running and be his great loveable self again, and how long will it take him to play again? And what is the right way to pick him up?I dont want to hurt him.

dont touch the area where he has stiches, my guess is he will be sore for about a week, and after two weeks he will be getting back to normal.

My cats just been fixed too and I had him done Thursday. He is now eating and drinking again. Hes done nothing but play the last two days and hes getting back to his old self slowly. He is still a bit upset with me for taking him but he keeps cuddling up to me when he thinks I am asleep so I don't think hes that mad with me now!! Give hima couple of days, he will be right as rain again. You may notice a slight change in him though as getting him fixed does change him. And you should be able to pick him up as normal. under his front legs. Just be careful around his back area

It will take a few days to a week or so, all depends on the cat. Him sleeping a lot is normal. He is probably still trying to get over the drugs they gave him. As long as he is eating and drinking, I think everything is fine. Just make sure that you handle him carefully, and avoid touching his rear.

After 10 days your cat will be fully heal for sure.
During these couple of days he would be sleeping lots and not moving around much.
Best is not to pick him cause he is in a upsad mood now and trying to get use to all those changes in his system now.
After 10 days it will be safe to bath him if you intended to.
How you cat is reactting is normal but just give him some space and stay on basic diet. Dry food

It usually takes 6-8 hours for anesthesia to be out of an animals system, but it can take as long as 24 hours.
As soon as he feels better, he'll start acting like his old self. Like with people, recovery times differ. So long as he's eating, walking around and going to the bathroom, there's nothing to worry about.
Be sure to give him the antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor if he was prescribed them.

It depends on the cat, sometimes a day sometimes a few days, but if he is not his normal self by, I would say Thursday afternoon, I would definately call the vet back and see what is going on.
-- in response to your add-on of them sleeping all day.....last friday i brought home my kittie from a surgery and all he did was sleep all day until last night when we finally caught him playing....it all depends on how he feels

hi, sugah--your baby will take about 4-5 days to again be himself. he should not run and jump a lot until about 4 days--he will know when t o do his play--he will feel better. right now he hurts and does not want to do much. let him do what he wants to for a few days--he will be himself again really soon--probably before you get this answer.........
love him and enjoy him. if they used glue instead of stitches, as some places do, he will be easier to care for than with stitches--the glue vanishes. if the stitches are internal, then, same as glue--they vanish. usually that is the plan with boys. girls are different--more to look for and watch.
if he haS SIGNS OF SWELLING OR REDNESS, CALL THE VET.oops.keep him indoors.

Give me him about a week to heal. He will be himself again. Imagine you going on a surgery...during your healing process you are not going to be youself, you are going to feel pain and discomfort. Give your cat space for him to heal, don't pick him up for a while, cause he must be feeling a lot of pain. I have couple of cats and they were fixes, usually females take longer to heal, but males suffer as well. Just give him time. I hope this helps.

Since it's been 4 days from your post, he should be running around like crazy. Males have a much easier healing time than females

My cat was back to being better in a couple of weeks! Best not to pick him up too much that way he won't be sore. If you do just be mind full of the back end.

Aww I just took both my cats to get fixed last friday...I'm also waiting for them to get better...my little boy seems okay he's just sleeping a lot, the medication makes him sleepy. I think its longer for females to heal. Just hang in there!
