Just floating;
The closest commercial airport to 29 Palms, California is Palm Springs (PSP) at about 50 miles, You would simply head west in I-10 then north on Ca 62 directly into 29 Palms.
The next closest alternative is Ontario (ONT) at about 106 miles. From there you would go east on I-10 and north on Ca 62.
Avoid LAX if you can. It is extremely buy, and that 160 mile drive across the entire Los Angeles basin won't be much fun.
Would you please do me a favor when you get to 29 Palms. Tell your nephew that I said "Thank You" for his service and sacrifice to our country. My family deeply appreciates the good work that fine young men and women, such as your nephew, does to keep us all safe.

RE:
Going to Twenty Nine Palms, CA?
My sister and I are going to be traveling to Twenty Nine Palms, CA to see my nephew (her son) who is stationed there. We're trying to decide where to fly into. San Diego, Los Angeles.....I was told that it is about a 3 hour drive from San Diego to the base. Any suggestions?

If the price is the same, I'd go with SD. It's a smaller airport, so you get your car faster, probably less traffic too.
Also check Ontario and Palm Springs--if you can find a good deal pricewise, those are closer.

Ontario, definitely. And while you're in 29 palms, be sure to visit Joshua Tree National Park- it's beautiful this time of year. Have fun!

You're in a heap of trouble. Is there a contract of sale? Was it filed with the state? Do you have receipts? Do you have anything saying that they are selling it to you with a stated price? Not enough info for me to help.
