Hello,
I have three dogs and have had them as puppies and now they are 12, 10 and I have one a little over a year. They were all trained in a crate with a radio on so they didn't hear the sounds outside an they slept till I came home. I left for work at 5:30 and didn't get home till 3:30. They were good all day in the crate. You just have to make sure they empty there bladder and don't give them any water before you leave and make sure you let him out right away when you get home. You have to train him in a crate so he learns how to hold it too. He will learn. The only time mine would have an accident is when he got sick and couldn't hold it but at least it wasn't all over the house and easy to clean up.
Good luck.

At this age, I would not leave a puppy in a kennel for more than 4-5 hours without an opportunity for a potty run and some play time. Do you have someone who can come by during your work day to let puppy out for a while?

We'll first off, what kind of puppy do you have? I have a 3 month old Jap. chin and I don't put her in a kennel while I'm at work. I bought a popup kennel at Target that I put her bed in and she'll go into (by herslef) to lay down. I don't have her closed in there so she can't get out, I just leave it open for her to go in and come out as she pleases. I put her kennel, puppy pad, toys, food/water in the bathroom and I closed it off using a baby gate. That away, she wont scratch up the door while I'm at work and she doesn't feel so confined as if she was in there with the door closed. I would buy a baby gate and block off a section of your house/apt so that they can run around and play while your at work. I woudlnt want to be in a kennel 8 hours a day, would you?

My pups stay crated during the day, fortunatly for me, I live 1 mile from work and go home at lunch and usually once in the morning to let them out. They are ok to stay in a kennel but hopefully not for 10-12 hours. If thats the case make sure to get him lots of exercise and playtime when you get home

I keep my dog in his crate while i am at work, and i go home at lunch every day. A friend of mine has a young dog too, but her commute is too far to get home during lunch. She leaves his crate door open but against the doggy door so he can go in & out to go potty, but can't get into things throughout the rest of the house. He's a fairly small dog, and we are in AZ where the weather is mild this time of year. Depending on your circumstances its a thought.

there is the typhoon Defender, besides the undeniable fact that that's a cape no longer a collar. it incredibly works via struggling with your dogs from feeling the electrical powered energy interior the air, it fairly is element of what freaks your domestic dog out plenty. via fact of this fairly some dogs will conceal in bathtubs throughout storms (the tub discharges the static). There are additionally a number of rigidity blankets. those are easily shirts on your dogs that are made too tight. the assumption is that dogs sense risk-free and take care of while they're swaddled, basically like toddlers do. i comprehend of no "collar" however.

It is hard enough for a dog to wait for us to get home and take them out. It is almost like torture for a puppy to be locked up and not have a bathroom break. We have a pen in back we let them run in during the good weather days ans in the house, one room, while it is cold out.

I have 2 dogs and they are crated while my husband and I are at work (Usually gone from 7 to 5:30 or so). I have a dog walker that comes in mid-day to let them out, take them for a walk, play with them and give them a treat.
They do just fine!

Try barracading him in one room such as the kitchen with baby gates. Have someone come in half way during the day to take him out for a walk and a play. Make sure there are lots of toys and things for him to chew on when you are gone and leave the radio on for company.
The woman I use charges $12 a day to come in & take mine for a walk mid-day.

Have you considered doggie day-care?
Try and search doggie day-care in your area.
Or perhaps, hire a dog-walker-they will make sure your dog is taken out, and will allow them to play and interact with other dogs. The best thing is to have your dog interact with other people/dogs if he is alone a lot!!
