act totally stand-offish when I'm all over him, and is all over me when I am around other guys? He's not my boyfriend, but I want to be. He was activley e-mailing me, but not in the past few days. It soo puzzling! :( He only makes efforts when I leave him alone, but when I show my affection towards him... he steers clear of me!

This is a complicated question.
It may be just your imagination that he's stand-offish when you are all on him. It may be that he's not showing you the returned affection that you may be used to.
As ar as the e-mail thing; your screenname is something about college..If he's in college too; maybe he's been too busy with his studies to return your e-mails?
Now as far as the only returning the affection when you dont give him any...sounds like he doesn't deal with rejection too well & has a possible issue with commitment.
I was in your boat once & I got hurt b/c I thought It was a one sided relationship (as far as affection goes). We went back & forth with the "I like you when you dont like me" & vice-versa. I got attached & it was a huge mind-screw & was totally NOT worth my time.
Leave him alone before it turns into something ugly...

Well guys like the chase, and if your being too clingy then he might feel like he already has you. On the otherhand, he may not even want to really be with you, but out of competition he works hard to win you over. Whatever the case, it seems like he's giving you the run around. Play it cool, and see what happens.

Sounds like he's playing hard to get. He keeps trying to show you he likes you when you're around other guys to keep you interested, but seems to want u to do all the chasing. Or maybe he just wants to be friends, but the number one guy friend in your life. Back off for a bit and let him do the chasing:)

He's all over you when you're around other guys because he's the jealous type and leaves you alone when you show him affection because he gets scared and probably overwhelmed.
I think he's a total jerk who isn't worth your time. :)

He is a person who craves attention... and when he doesn't receive it he dishes it out so that u retaliate! Please leave this guy alone and find another guy who returns this attention. U deserve better than him.

he would do it with any girl...it's for his image to the guys..

i've been known to be like that. he likes to call the shots, be in control. are you submissive or do you like to be in control as well? talk to him about it.
