I am 8 months pregnant and wanted to get braids before my baby got here, but I am unsure about what kind to get. Which braids are the best to get? I want some that will grow my hair instead of break it off, especially around the edges.

That's almost like a no win situation. Any type of micro braid will come with the consequence of some hair breaking off around the edges.

But I do recoment Micro instead of invisible.
First, micro's don't have to be knotted at the end of the braid, whereas Invisible ones do. The knot is what can break the hair off real bad (especially if you are planning on taking them out on your own and not getting the beautician to do it for you).
Second, micro's don't take as long. Being 8 months prego, you probably don't want to sit for such a long time with the invisible ones.
And third, whatever braid style you choose, you have to keep the edges moisturized!!! That's how the edges break anyway. They don't get a lot of moisture. Just use a smidget of vaseline on the edges and the rest of your scalp to keep the hair from breaking off so much.

Hope this helped. Congrats on the baby too. Wish ya the best!

When I was growing our my relaxer I first started by doing cornrows. Make sure that they arent too tight. My last braid style was micros and I kept those in for two months and then when I took them out I cut my relaxed ends off. I personally think cornrows where the least stressing on my hair. With box braids when the hair starts to grow and you have all that extentions hanging it can cause a strain on the delicate new growth. It all depends on how you take care of your hair when braided whether it will break or not. Make sure whoever is braiding your hair doesnt pull too tightly because when you take out your braids some hair is liable to fall out from the scalp as well. Good luck

Micros def. break on the edges, and i can't remember what invisible braids are....are those the ones you crochet?? Honestly the best thing would be to get regular ol' cornrows....but try a different style other than just straight back!

I'm not to fund of kinky twist but they do grown your hair! I got my hair done in kinky twist but they were longer than the way most people get theirs. the don't break your hair like micros because it a two strand twist which is lighter on the hair. Here is a pic of my sis and her twists.
