I am a 23 year old male, 200 lbs, 5'11. t happens quite often when I am running or doing some other kinda cardio after about 20 mins. The pain is intense and it makes me stop for a breather... tkaes about 10 mins for the pain to go away. The pain is on the front side of my body, right below the rib cage on the left hand side.

I agree with the answer above. It's a side stitch. It's just a cramp and it's also known also called exercise related transient abdominal pain (ETAP). It's actually common in runners, especially when you're new.

If you want to keep running despite it, try breathing deeper and more regularly while you're running. Also vary your speed. When I get it, I usually set the treadmill speed higher so I can just run through it. Also, don't eat anything 2 hours before your cardio. Food can add to the likelihood of getting a side stitch.

I think its upper stomach where you get the feeling some tender muscle is gonna snap?

I use to have it when i force myself to run fast without proper warm ups.
What i did was to jog slowly at the beginning and then quicker as you run longer. Maybe you will still hurt from time to time but the only way to get rid of it completely is to train yourself up because Im sure its not the heart or lung.

this indicate that ur exerting more than what ur body can tolerate .
Though the age is not suggesting any probability of heart diseases like angina but this may be due to some other form of heart illness like valvular or mitral valve prolapse ( a benign conditon ) .One thing is certain that u should consult a physcian & get an ECG Done.

It's called a side stitch. It'll stop happening after a while you just have to keep it up. Perhaps you're eating or drinking too much or too soon before your workout.
