We moved from AZ to CA in 2006. Most of our income came from CA. On the CA State form there is a place to deduct wages earned from another state, however I don't see that on the AZ State form. Do I have to claim our CA wages on our AZ State form?

No. You will need to fill out an AZ 140PY (http://www.revenue.state.az.us/Forms/2006/140PY.pdf). It will ask for your Arizona income.

Don't forget to claim any unreimbursed moving expenses if you moved for work.

Generaly you declare the income that you earned while living in a particular state. As I remember it CA wants to know all of your income but only expects you to pay for the part you earned while living in CA. I had one job for the same company but worked in two differenct states, CA and RI. I only paid taxes for income that I earned to CA while I was living in CA and RI when I was living in RI. I'm sure that Arizona expects the same.

One problem that I had, was that the company did not switch my deductions as soon as I moved; so I ended up having to use part of my Rhode Island refund to pay California.

If you get something like Turbo Tax you can find out from them or take your taxes to an agency like H&R Block. In any case you should make out just fine...... If you consider being taxed at all fine!
